Can you say John Becker. NINE straight 20+ win seasons as a HC......never finished lower than 3rd in conference, W/ NINE combined League REG/tourney Championships since 2012. A noted X/O guy and still a fairly young man.

Sad because I really though Anderson was the man that was gonna finally turn things around at SJU as his always been a winner. His teams win a lot of games. But here we are still waiting for a breakout year and losing the little patience we have left. Seems like SJU/Georgetown/DePaul have been locked into that bottom tier. Very concerning situation for those 3 programs. For a healthy league and engaged fanbases we need movement every year

I've been saying for years now that his recruiting since day 1 here wouldn't cut it in the Big East. Zero top 60 classes in four cycles (worst in the Big East). He'll be gone by the end of next year regardless of the extension.

here's the thing for me- recruiting or not, the talent level last night was there.... But the final 4 minutes were brutal. The last 4 possessions before the final 2 3's and layup were turnover, turnover, turnover, and missed 3. Game went from 75-74 Providence to 80-74 Providence(with only 26 seconds to go). Just complete blanks of possessions. The end of the 1st half- brutal as well- have a chance to go into halftime no worse than down 6 but miss free throw and then have a brutal turnover and then foul a 3 point shooter.

I like him, but the end where they were coming out of a timeout and the guys apparently didn’t know they were supposed to foul seems pretty indicative of what the program is now.

great point. Totally undisciplined team there.

Yeah the team has a LOT of issues, from coaching to players not coming through when it counts, but recruiting is the most concerning to me. A good coach would've won the game last night (which is why Cooley won), but our problems are much deeper than that. We now have won only 1/8 Q1 games and 0/1 Q2 games. We also lost a Q4 game to Pitt. I don't care how bad the coach is, if our team was talented enough to compete on a nightly basis then we'd have more than 1 Q1/Q2 win (out of 9 attempts) at this point. Our NET wouldn't be close to 100. We wouldn't be totally out of the NIT picture.

There were warning signs since day 1 when CMA failed to bring over ANY Arkansas players or recruits. The writing has been on the wall for a long time now, and it's a shame that a fluke mini-run during a COVID year, one in which didn't even result in an NCAA appearance, gave him a faux BE Coach of the Year award and contract extension. Oh yeah, not to mention nearly his entire team transferred on him... expect a repeat of that next month.

The sooner he's gone, the better. If that means this season tanks as hard as Georgetown/Butler/DePaul have then so be it.

What's discouraging is you see the same shortcomings game after game. That fiasco at the end of the first half last night was similar, to the end of the half against Seton Hall a couple weeks ago. Just kills any kind of momentum heading into halftime The free throw shooting last night is nothing new, been that way all season with a 55% number. The three straight turnovers with under three minutes to go were totally unforced, just sloppy undisciplined basketball again. The one thing you have to give them credit for, is they play hard from start to finish, regardless of the score. Anyway, seasons essentially over now,
only hope is to wait for the BET, and see if we get lucky and cash in a lottery ticket the way Georgetown did last year.

Interesting because I thought that too when Anderson was hired. Normally a new coach with some level of success at other major schools will get at least 1 or 2 significant players from the prior school. He never did here.

Then the mass exodus...I also spoke with a player's parent (no longer on team) who said Anderson is known for forcing kids to play injured and did not come away too thrilled with him to put it lightly.

I'm beginning to think there might have been some fire to the smoke caused by DeMeo claiming Anderson forced him out because of all of his surgeries preventing him from doing his job.

There will be another mass exodus for sure Posh must be getting huge $ offers from major P5 schools as we speak. Next year is going to be hot garbage with one (and only) 4 star kid coming in (Storr) but watch him transfer too.

The cat is out of the bag and the world knows Anderson stinks now. Just get rid of him. Idc who we get...just not him. We need someone who can run a half court offense, find shooters, and recruit at least 1 or 2 four star top 100 kids each cycle. 1 four star recruit every 3-4 years ain't cutting it at this level.

I really like MA, and love his wife behind the bench. From everybody I know who has met him, they say he is a really good guy.

I think he deserves a couple of more years before any "hot seat" talk, but he needs to pick up on the recruiting. He can't fall into the SJU pattern of relying on JUCOs and transfers.

He needs to focus on really high 3 star recruits, and lower 4 star recruits, so lets say Top 90 to 175 type players. Don't go for the homerun.

I remember when SJU was going for Rawle Alkins a few years back, I think Nova was as well, and it seemed like all the focus was on him. SJU should have been more focused on the Top 90 to 175 guys I mentioned, and probably let a few slip through their fingers by putting all their eggs into the Alkins basket.

Anyway, get 2 or 3 of those 3 star/low 4 star kids a year. Kids who are going to buy in, and stick around for 3 or 4 years while developing. A transfer here and there to fill the gaps is obviously fine, but you are never going to build a program using that strategy. It just doesn't work. Rooting for MA though. Would really like to see him succeed at SJU.
