What. A. Week.. On Wednesday night, the Big East took it on the chin in the state of Indiana. First Michigan State came into Hinkle and left with a victory over Butler. Then a furious comeback by the Johnnies fell short in a two point loss to Indiana in a packed Assembly Hall. But the hopes of the Big Ten to grab a split were ended in the first Thursday night game. If you did not know why Ohio State never wanted to play Xavier at Cintas, now you know. The best college hoops team in Ohio finally got to prove it as the X-Men took out the Buckeyes to secure the first Gavitt Games win for tHe Big East. Then DePaul put an exclamation point on the Games with a win over Rutgers. So not only did the BEast win the series, it won 6-2 which is the biggest margin of victory for either conference in the history of the event. Also, overall, each league is 24-24 all time in the event. Just a great week for the Big East. Oh, and by the way, Marquette did not want to just pick on the Big Ten so they beat Ole Miss of the SEC and it looks like they will get West Virginia tomorrow.
