I'm a fan of good basketball first and foremost and prefer college ball to the NBA. I've rooted for every team in the Big East at one point or another. I'm closest to the Providence program because I paid 8 years of tuition there for 2 daughters. I also have a soft spot for St. John's because the first college games I ever saw in person were were St. John's games.

Ok Bill, I like you a lot more now.
Big East Basketball is what it's always been. Great competition nightly.
If the Atlantic 10 didn't suck, why is everyone looking for the exits?
There is a reason why the A-10 left a team in the Central Time Zone...SLU, your move.

Glad we can get on the same page. Let me add that whenever there's a game with a Catholic school in it, I'm rooting for the Catholic school. To this day, I don't think I've gotten over St. Joe's loss to OK State in the 2004 Elite 8. The Providence loss to Arizona in the 1997 Elite 8 is another one that was brutal. That was a great Providence team. I threw a Final Four party in 1987 when PC made it that far. I think the game was over at half time. That one was tough too.

That was the same year that Xavier went out in the E8 at the hands of Duke, after the officials called two quick whistles on Anthony Miles, who was personally eating the Duke front court alive at the time. If I recall correctly, St. Joes and Xavier missed the F4 together by a combined score of about 5 points.

I was cheering like crazy for both of them. Xavier gave a great account of themselves in that game. Grrr!

Hey Bill, looking at your list of crushing BE moments, I'm wondering where's the time when the refs put Robinson on the line in a one point championship game with almost no time on the clock to rob SHU in '89. That has to be the worst catholic school loss of all-time. That prov loss in 1997 was tough but it was more of a late game implosion by prov, as well as, Croshere didn't show up against Bibby, Simon, Dickerson, and Zona. Amazingly even though that Zona team is the only team to beat three #1 seeds, the prov game was the biggest threat on their run to the ship.

Don't get me started on the Seton Hall - Michigan game. That was highway robbery! And to make matters worse, they put a 50% FT shooter on the line, then Rumeal Robinson cans them both! Grrr! I could have lived with a horrible call if they had another shot in OT, but that one just a gut punch followed by a kick in the nuts.
