You know man, that kinda confirms a couple of things that were producing some high anxiety pre-season...will Tandy and ZFree make a major jump? A RESOUNDING yes.
Also, I have hinted here that Dieonte Miles will really surprise and if you watched, you can see why.
Our transfers look legit as well. Steele brought in Johnson for exactly what you just saw and Griffin looked awful nasty!
Here's the thing. Scruggy can not have that kind of production, regardless of how well the rest of the roster plays. I don't think we can get where we want be in the BEast without him imposing his will on a REGULAR BASIS.

Xup, if I may amplify your post with what I seriously believe to be the most important point of all, because everything starts with this:
This is now Travis Steele's program - 100%. No more locker room intrigue (I do believe that was an issue last year). These guys are locked into him and his plan. He can now run the show with no baggage. I believe he has the coaching chops to create a legacy on Victory Parkway. Combine that with his ability to assemble a strong staff and his recruiting skills, and we have a formula for success moving forward.
Anyone discounting what we saw today will take the position that "well, it WAS Oakland." We all get that it was Oakland. But what we saw was solid execution on both sides of the ball, high energy, teamwork, and a FIFTY-TWO POINT VICTORY.
I'd say that our 3-point shooting capability may have cranked up, shall we say a notch. Steele's ability to put multiple combinations of players on the floor is refreshing, and we're missing Colby Jones and Wilcher at this point. Tandy and Free have made a strong jump to their sophomore year. Odom is a confident beast. The transfers are solid. But, as you said, the biggest "surprise" is Deonte Miles. He is smooth.
It's early; only one game in the books. And it was Oakland. BUT, there was zero indigestion with this performance. None. Last year's team probably would have bumbled their way to a 9-point halftime lead and finally won by - pick a number - 21, and on 2 of 37 from behind the arc.
This is Steele's team now and without the behind the scenes b/s. I believe we're going to be pleasantly surprised. We'll certainly take a few lumps as we go along and the BE will be a war as usual, but we look like we could legitimately do well this year, as young as we are and given all the new pieces.
