Fair point, I consider it to be something deeper than pan pizza but not quite traditional deep dish.

But seriously between tavern style, Pequods, Bonci and Oven Grinder, we're way more than just deep dish at the four places three of which are national chains one of which is a tourist trap.

You're right though Italian beef (combo) would've been the best greasy food representation, none of that Portillos or Al's crap either, johnnie's elmwood park or Mr Beef all day.

This is stupid, Chicago is recognized as one of the best food cities in the country. It has two styles of pizza not just deep dish, a delicious hot dog style, a special style of ribs, invented the flaming saganaki at Greek restaurants, was the candy capitol of the states, have invented the American Italian beef sandwich and American polish sausage and more breweries than any other city.

Curious about the special style of ribs? I've been to Smoque, Green Street, Bub City and a couple other places out there, they were good but don't recall them being unique or different. If there's a good spot I'm missing let me know and I'm on my way!

Good for you for getting out to smoque, hell half the people in Chicago don't leave the Loop, River North, Lincoln Park, Lakeview stretch let alone visitors.

I'm referring to Twin Anchors. Sinatra used to get them flown out to him while on tour. Chicago style is slow cooked so they fall off the bone more than traditional smoked or grilled BBQ but also because it's slow cooked it's not technically BBQ.

Next time you're in town give Lilly's Q and Lem's a shot they're better than Bub City that's for sure.

HUH??!! Did you say Lem's BBQ? Woke me up from a sound nap...lol I used to know Lem's from my trips to Chitown, back in the mid 70's. They are still in operations huh. Great news.
