Lol like clockwork, the yearly predictions of Providence in 6th-9th place are here, and like clockwork, the Friars will once again finish in 3rd or 4th (if there’s a season).

Oh yeah, ol' Git missed big time on his expectations for the Friars. Duke could easily challenge for BE POY if his unreal size/athleticism/BBIQ take a jump as a junior. I am expecting him to blow us all away as a stone cold assassin IF we play. Also GTMO is grossly neglect in appreciation for BIG NATE....he is going to dominate the paint 8 of 10 games in conference. I also think Bynam will be seamless, and Reeves, Nichols, Monroe will be big time factors. Not to mention Greg Gantt.....future star in the making.

PC will finish top 5.

Also would be interested in WHY ol' Git ranks BU so high? They absolutely were devastated by their departures with ZERO solid replacements. The South Carolina transfer and some 100ish freshman? Really? Thompson is a nice player but C' mom man, the roster is depleated. Nze and Golden are just not going to cut it....9th place for me.

I think everyone is hyping up UCONN so much. They're going to have a harsh reality check when conference play starts there isn't any game that you can relax for. Every game is a dogfight, I'm not sure if they are prepared for this, especially if they buy into the hype. It would be hilarious to me if they end up being down in that 8-11 range, and there's just no way to know yet.

Big Salute to Generalissimo Gitmo Azules! Tell all the other prognosticators to put their crayons away for the Fall and pay homage to the King Crieghola! El Compadre knows how to work a room, I love the shameless schmoozing and a big thanks for the call out! As far as predictions this is my handful of spaghetti noodles I’m throwing up against the wall o the Bubble. Hope my No. 1 sticks and really don’t have a clue after the Top 2. Just gut feelings. I’m placing the Hall near the cellar based on the possibility of the bubble being in Omaha. When that happens the Big Mamushka is going to throw a tantrum and quit the team. Georgetown you are an embarrassment to the Jesuit Nation, Pope Francis wants your beer kegs returned at once.

1. Creighton
2. Nova
3. Providence
4. Xavier
5. Butler
6. UCONN
7. De Paul
8. St. John’s
9. Marquette
10. Seton Hall
11. Georgetown

Pretty spot on with everything except your omission of Noah Horchler. Don’t forget the name. He might be starting next to Big Nate in the front court. Some whispers from last year’s graduating class are that he’s legit.

I also expect this to be Duke’s big breakout year. Seriously I think the kid’s going to put up some Kris Dunn-esque averages; something like 15/5/5 and close to 2 spg.

However, I believe what will keep PC in the upper half of the standings, will be the emergence of AJ Reeves as a top 10-15 player in the conference. He was a top 75 recruit, heralded as a big time scorer/deadeye 3 point shooter, who has been a pretty solid player for his first two seasons, however inconsistent. You definitely see the flashes. He’ll pour in 25 one game with 5 3 pointers and then he’ll combine to score 14 points over the next 3 games. No more of that. I think he makes the jump to being a 15-17 ppg guy on 40+% from 3. He’s also been pretty below average to average defensively for the amount of length and athleticism he has, which I believe will be tuned up by his 3rd go around.

The Duke-Reeves tandem will be one of the best duos in the league.....if we play.

I agree that Horshler is the most likely 5th starter but you have 3 other 6'8" guys that will be very hungry for his minutes, especially Gantt. But if Horshler does emerge as more productive than what Carter gave X, look out!

I also agree that Reeves will shake the inconsistency and be a major factor. I'm thinking that Bynum, Duke, Reeves will all go 30+ along with Watson IF he can stay out of early foul trouble. If those 4 can gel early and stay on the floor together for the majority of the time PC will be a very tough out.

BTW, Duke IS Kris Dunn 2.0.

An interesting study for me is the Seton Hall Pirates. Certainly Mamu and Aiken will go full bore combining for as good an inside/outside combo in conference....Aiken is 100% legit. Cale will be a fixture as well but if Rhoden can put it all together things get interesting. BTW, No one is going to have any fun dealing with Obiagu and Samuel (welcome back Epperson), however the bench seems a little thin at first glance.

And uhhh......Willard can flat out COACH!

Gtmo must have forgotten Duke dropping 36 on us. Also forgot they were the hottest team in the league at the end of the season.

On to Marquette. Too many unknowns to get a good handle on what we will see from them but DJ Carton is not one of them. What he was able to do in the B10 as a frosh makes him ready to rock from day 1, so the PG is as solid as they come. McEwen is your starting 2 and I expect him to be much more consistent across the board. If (big if) Theo John can manage to stay on the floor, MU can make some noise....he's a Tyrique Jones doppelganger.

So that leaves to question the final 2 starters and key bench players. I'm guessing that Cain has the 3 comfortably and I truly believe that Garcia will be ready from jump to start at the 4. Elliott has proved to be a top gun off the bench and no reason to think Torrence will not continue to advance his game. I believe you picked up another play now transfer and an additional quality incoming recruit but regardless the bench is not very deep.

Wojo....meh.
