2020 Gavitt Games

The home for Big East hoops

I'd consider cupcake games to be home games where the opponent is ranked #200 or worse, so anywhere from 0-2 of the 4 Big 5 games would be considered cupcake games depending on the year.

Tough schedule for Nova, but they can handle it.

SJU AD confirmed Gavitt Game this year is a home game. So Maryland would come to us if its them.

20 BE games
4 Big 5 games
3 Exempt tourney games(+1?)
3 Texas, UVa, GG

that's 30 games for sure with another possible home game from the exempt tourney
so basically that's 1 cupcake for the season

That is a hell of a schedule. The reality is most all teams in the Big East have limited buy games going to the 20 game conference schedule. You figure you have 20 games, an exempt even, Big12 and BigTen games, traditional rivalry game, and then buy games.

Xavier has the following:
20 Big East games
3 games @Old Spice Classic
Wake Forest
Oklahoma
@Gavitt Game
@UC

That's 27 games against high major competition.

Those 4 Big 5 games are basically cupcake games. But yea, I can see your point. Its just the way it is now, if you had to make Nova's schedule I am not sure you would trade a cupcake game for any of the ones you have listed.

Yeah, no way in hell are Big 5 games anything close to typical cupcakes, 2 of them are away and all of them are their superbowl, try again. The point is that being in both the B12 challenge and GG kills almost all of our schedule flexibility with 20 BE games.

And like I said, I highly doubt you would swap any of those games out for a cupcake game. If not, what do you suggest?

The problem with Nova's schedule is that we only get 14 home games. Show me another top 25ish program that's only played 14 home games vs. 13 true road games? The Big5 is a straight up charity.

And this is assuming the gg is a home game.

I'd swap out the GG in an instant if it were an away game for sure.

I think Nova is 27-1 in the Big 5 games the last 7 years.

They may not be cupcakes, but those other 4 teams are struggling against Will D. Cat.

Big Ten will schedule only conference games for 2020 fall sports season. Hopefully this doesn't end up rolling into the winter season as well.

There will be no fall sports at all and don't hold your breathe for winter ones either.
