PREVIEWS for 2020 Big East Season

Postby gtmoBlue » Mon Jun 15, 2020 3:40 pm

Busting Brackets has begun a preview series on BE Teams. Series being written by Jackson Downs - @jacksondowns_22
Jackson is a young man with an excellent writing style. Has a productive career ahead of him.

The preview series begins with Nova. Good read.

then the Jays. Hopefully more to follow.

Not sure the Jays breakdown is al that great. Some like Hemingway and some like Dan Brown. To each his own.

Yo Admin...

Would you please pin the Gavitt, B12, and 2020 Recruiting threads so they stay up top. I had to dig around on page 2 to find them.
Thks. ;)

Terrible preview IMO. This quote tells me this writer did a really poor job with basic research: “(Nova) does lack in-depth at the guard position.” No mention of Caleb Daniels at all; also states that Justin Moore might lose his starting spot (nope). Expect to see Jay roll out the smaller lineup at times next year. Here’s a better preview for you: guard play is going to be our strength. The 4 horseman of the apocalypse type of pain in store. The Nova / CU games are going to be a lot of fun to watch for sure.

Yeah, this writer is cluless. Not mentioning Daniels exposes him as incompetent for sure. I'm thinking his track record suggest, he could easily challenge for the BEast scoring title IF he can see 25+ minutes and become a Go to scorer. However he would have to have been dominate in practice to see that kind of time on the floor. Gillespie gets all the minutes he wants and Moore obviously seems allergic to pine!!

IDK...Nova and the Jays are certain to kick some A$$, but X seems a bit under the radar and IMO PC/SHU have issues. Marquette may surprise if Dawson Garcia goes BEast mode.

Five BE Storylines. Article by Drew Schmelzer... interesting take on his part.
Speaks specifically to Creighton, G'twn, UConn, Marquette/SH. Last page is a reset of the BE Honor Roll and top conference players, etc.
Has an updated (june 2020) power ranking and predicting only 4 teams in the dance in March 2021. Hmmm.

June 2020 Updated Big East Power Rankings:

1. Villanova
2. Seton Hall
3. Creighton
4. Providence
5. Butler
6. Marquette
7. Georgetown
8. Xavier
9. UConn
10. St. John’s
11. DePaul

Gary Parrish and Matt Norlander did a podcast and talked about the Big East and how they think they will fare in the next 5 years. Starts at 28 minute mark.

Looking at Lunardi's bracket (thus far), his pecking order is as follows.
8-11 are guesses as Lunardi only lists 7 teams.

Season could be really strange if it started in January with conference play, as Big Pitino suggests.

1 Nova
2 Jays
3 UConn
4 Marquette
5 SH
6 Prov
7 Butler
8 X (?)
9 StJ (?)
10 DePaul (?)
11 Gtwn
