Never really bought into the idea that the Thompson’s still had a negative influence in the program until two days ago. Though Jt Jr is still at every practice, it seems Ronny felt the job was his after JT3 left and he’s been working to make that A reality ever since. As far as some of the comments of McClung not feeling at home, apparently Jt Jr is super petty and doesn’t really respect alumni who haven’t been in the NBA or aren’t Ewing/Mourning/Mutombo. Honestly it kinda tracks and I could imagine his presence is a reason alumni like AI don’t come around as often, cause he’s certainly the reason other alumni don’t come around as often I wouldn’t want to establish my legacy in an environment like that if I were Mac. Hopefully the Thompson’s move on before they completely undermine what’s going on. They are likely helping to poison the well with the admin against the current team leadership.

This is incredibly disappointing and frustrating to read. Thanks for sharing.

No problem. Take it fwiw but I have it on good authority. And in my longer post (Maybe it wasn’t approved because it was too long?) I talked a little about how 99% of the Hoya fan base is in the dark cause the program has historically been tight lipped and they haven’t let much info out and our base has been irresponsibly speculating about what actually went down without any real basis and it’s also undermined our perception nationally. I.e is the casual Hoya fan believes these BS narratives then why wouldn’t others? If you dig into the set of facts surrounding the discipline that’s gone on last summer, there is no way real way for the average fan to tell what actually has transpired. Either way each of Mac/Akinjo/LeBlanc had expressed interest in transferring since Their first semester freshman year. Also have hear the admin didn’t know how to deal with so much publicity, in particular with regards to Mac and the media/videographers following him around campus.

Some at GU (faculty/admin/students) turn their nose up at athletes and want to maintain the purity of academics of campus even if it means no sports. It’s a bigoted way of thinking to be honest and definitely a shame. Though college sports aren’t purely amateur anymore, there are still countless young men and women seeking a quality educational AND athletic experience, but there are some adults at GU that would have you think the two are mutually exclusive. They’re not, it just takes a special breed of person to want to earnestly excel in both areas at the same time. That is one reason I’ve always been a fan of GU because it isn’t strictly about sports. Here’s to hoping the admin realizes the value of an athletic experience in augmenting a student’s development and give the basketball staff a little more discretion to run the program as is standard. Right now it seems as if Ewing has been working with one hand tied behind his back since last summer.

As for Patrick he'll be fine. Big John was only 43-37 after 3 years at Gtwn. JT got better, so will Patrick. Will Gtwn return to 80's greatness? No.

By the by...MacClung to NCA&T or Howard. Best fit. ;)

That is not a sound theory you’re offering up because I could point to countless examples of teams “returning to prominence”.....every team has had a lull in their history.

Don't sweat it. You're a new poster. It may take you a while to decipher 'Git-speak.

Roughly translated this post reads: "My Jays will take a back-seat to no one. I don't care how great of a conference the BE was or how great a program the Hoyas were back in the day. This is 2020 and it's CU's time to shine. And if they don't then fire Mac and get in someone who can get it done!"

Then there will certainly be a small dig in there that is intended as harmless fun. In this case a slight jab at White Chocolate MacClung playing at a Tradtional Black College. He may suggest a slightly overweight player eat more donuts or that Cooley needs to find a better barber, etc., etc. Just part of the charm that is a Jays-fan-old-timer who just wants one damn NC (or at least a FF) before he's 6 feet under. :D

Well, you've confirmed my worst fear, as far as Georgetown is concerned.

You have way, way too much going for you. Somehow, this "malignant cultural tumor" is going to have to be cut out in order for you to realize your abundant full potential again.

Someone with influence with the leadership would be well advised to bone up on the cultural lunacy that exists at Fordham. It certainly is a very good school. Jesuit. NYC (the Bronx). It's present and immediate past leadership has never demonstrated an ability to recognize the value of a well run athletic department to a university. If Georgetown's leadership wants to understand that on a tangible basis, then hop on the train and go visit Rose Hill Gym. Fordham is an athletic dead weight; an anchor. Frankly, it's an embarrassment to its conference, which itself has become embarrassing.

For those people at Georgetown who believe that "sports" taints the institution in some negative way, have them pop out to Palo Alto to visit the farm, or to Durham, NC to visit that place. Those places don't think that way and they seem to do well. There is this other place called Notre Dame that balances sports and academics in a successful manner, at least for the most part.

I agree with everything except the highlighted part. JTII took over a joke of a program. GT wasn't one of the Catholic sisters that were dominant in the east during the independents era. Schools we now laugh at, like St. Bonnies, St. Joe's, LaSalle, Duquesne, Holy Cross, and the schools that struggled in the old BE like PC, and SH were miles and miles ahead of GT as programs, all with vastly superior histories. JTII basically took an also ran with very little history, and turned it into a juggernaut. I can't emphasize enough how amazing what he did was. If you're younger, and didn't see it, it's hard to understand the enormity of it. Anyone on the board who is older, and a fan of PC, St. John's, or Nova, know what I'm talking about. GT was nothing before JTII. There is no comparison of the job Ewing took over, to the one JTII took over in the early 70s.

That said, I totally agree that GT can't assume that their old spot at the top of the BE is sitting there waiting for them. Time moves on. Out of sight, out of mind. You're recruiting 17-18 year olds. What happened 10 years ago doesn't matter to them, let alone 35 years ago. When a recruit looks at GT, and Seton Hall, they don't care that GT was by far the better program in the old BE, they care that SH is the better program NOW! GT hasn't gone over the cliff yet, but if they continue to be an also ran, it's going to make it hard to rise back up. It's hard to believe how mediocre St. John's has been over the last 30 years, and how bad it's gotten at DePaul. This could certainly happen at GT. If as one poster said, the folks running Georgetown University are no longer behind the program, then it could well get very bad. Even something that has been a non issue, the lack of an on campus arena, could become a very big issue if losing begins to make attendance fall off. This is a very very strong conference. Any school that is not giving 100% to be successful will find a home at the bottom of the standings.

Hoyas are bringing in 2 freshman PG (Tyler Beard and Dante Harris), as well as a Grad transfer PG in Jalen Harris from Arkansas. NBA is telling McClung his only hope at the league is as a PG. His agent wants him at a school that will use him at PG. Wasn't going to happen at G'town.
