Reviewing St Johns

The home for Big East hoops

I realize that this has been stated ad nauseam, but the Big Easts' stature, as a conference on the national landscape, would be greatly enhanced with a consistent winner/ranked/NCAA tourney regular from "New York's college team". St. Johns, even with some less than stellar teams lately, possesses one of the strongest and most recognizable brands in college basketball. I'm imagining a high octane, uptempo, fun and gun, rim-rattling, crowd pleasing brand of basketball, with a backdrop of a packed Garden, and the de facto capital of the world.

That's a helluva combination that few, if any, could match, and the bluest of the blue bloods would be begging to play on that stage.

Bullseye! I say this often with DePaul but it's also extremely true for St John's.

The Big East is a great league but it'll reach it's maximum potential if/when it has nationally relevant programs in the Chicago and NYC Markets. Also, Mike Anderson is exactly that. He's turning St John's into a high-octane, up tempo, pressure defense, very exciting brand of basketball and he can tell recruits they call the Garden their home. There's a reason why St John's and Duke play each other frequently.

Thanks Gumby, Jax and Omaha! I was thrilled with how SJU performed this year. Mike Anderson is awesome and I can’t wait to watch the improvement over the next few years. He is creating a fantastic culture and a style of basketball that is fun to watch and hopefully kids will want to play. I haven’t been this positive going into an off-season in years!

Damien Sears is transferring out. Going to grad transfer closer to home (Louisiana)

I have a feeling he’ll be coming back. Doubt he gets drafted. Glad he’s not hiring an agent.
