No need to try to handicap it booyah. I wouldn't sweat anyone who pretends realignment, which hasn't been predictable so far (B12 doomed!), is suddenly so predictable that if you say the BE may find a way to bring one of it's former fb playing members back it's pure fantasy!

Exactly (though I'm thinking like a 0.8% chance, but thats besides the point), but that is not the way these schools are being discussed on this post.

As to UConn, I really think the AAC will use any and all leverage it has in keeping them. I suspect that they will openly refuse to house UConn's football if the basketball program leaves. That threat alone would be enough to keep UConn IMO. Unlike Notre Dame and BYU, UConn football has no national following, has no TV contract and would fail as an independent.

No school had more hurdles in switching conferences than WVU...if a school decides there's a more profitable model that works for them they will figure out how to get it done.

Disagree with the emphasized portion above. WVU didn't have to worry about the Big 12 not being to house its football program. UConn does have that problem and will have to find a place to put that program. Without a conference, nobody will play UConn during conference season as they do not have the following of ND & BYU and can't promise TV coverage. If they possessed any of those things, they would already be in one of the power conferences. The exact same things are true about Cincinnati.

It is no coincidence that UConn got the raw end of the realignment reshuffling. Nobody has interest in a weak FB program in a mediocre TV market with a tiny fanbase. Kansas, remarkably, would have been in the same boat if the Big 12 blew up as was initially expected. Rutgers at least seemed to be able to deliver NYC; UConn FB delivers what, Hartford?

Football caused the birth of this version of the Big East. Football will also be what ironically keeps UConn out.

It seems like there are two camps here on Uconn. There are those (me) who say the next 5 years will determine where realignment losers (Uconn) ultimately wind up- the P5, AAC, or some hybrid of BE & MAAC-like conference/Indy. Then there are those which seem to think its a foregone conclusion that it will be the P5 or AAC long-term....ok fine. I find it interesting why the people who don't believe something is possible are spending as much time trying to critique posters who say they wouldn't be surprised given this era of realignment if this happened.

You may be correct about WVU, I just remember it being a logistics nightmare because it was accelerated like the BE/AAC split & a P.R. catastrophe because it got the courts involved.

Seems like most of the "Let's get UCONN back" folks are from some of the C7 fans longing for a return to the way things used to be. The C7 did an awesome job putting together something new and good with what was available in a very short period of time. Don't live in the past. Embrace this new league's exciting future.

Thanks... I mean, a goat could count the "UConn camp" on one of its cloven hooves.
