Naji deserves some love. Averaging almost 17 a game on 44/35/70 shooting in big east play with 6.5 boards and 4 assists a game and is one of the best defenders in the league. We haven’t had the best year but he’s putting up all big east numbers

I wanted to take a closer look. Naji has certainly had a good season and like Alexander, Baldwin and Bey, plays both sides of the ball well.

Here are conference only stats. Powell as POY might be tougher to sell than I thought when looking at numbers alone. He's struggled a bit from an efficiency standpoint. But where you finish should also count for something. Can someone who ends up playing on Wednesday in the BET be a legit POY candidate?

Naji is in serious conversation for 1st team if defense is a big factor in the equation, especially with the demands placed on him on the offensive end for a team of mismatches. But if it's offensively focused, he's more of a second team dude.

It's too bad that there isn't a all-BE defensive team. Romaro Gill would probably be defensive player of the year, and Naji would be on that team, but it would be interesting to see who else coaches pick.

I can't think of a major conference player that's approached Howard in scoring this year. Even Doug McDermott and Trae Young were less.

Really a shame we didn't at least have Sam around we got robbed of a truly incredible season and Howard is likely robbed of another BEPOY and potentially NPOY because Wojo can't coach up the other guys worth a damn

Actually Bey looks the most impressive as far as shooting and Check out Alexander’s Assist-to-turnover ratio. If Bey and Ty-Shon stay next year is going to be fun for Nova and Jay fans.

Good stuff. I don't really think Naji should be POY, but I definitely think he should be considered for first team and just kinda thought he was getting overlooked a little. He really struggled with the new 3 point line early in the year, but has started to figure it out in BE play and is playing really good ball right now. When he's on, there aren't many guys better.

Really surprised to see Howard with a sub-1 A/TO ratio. That's really bad didn't expect that.

I agree with this big time...regency bias but after watching last night in person Naji’s the player I least want to face of anyone in the conference. His size and skill combination is extremely tough.

It was positive before this collapse during which Koby Sacar and Bailey couldn't shoot a ball into Lake Michigan from the beach.
