Was just about to post this. If the award goes to someone other than Howard or Powell, I'd give it to Bey.

With that being said Hall, I thought Mamu was the best player on the floor last night. That kid has really become a force. Terrific player.

Mamu's been excellent lately and at this rate may get himself into this conversation for next season. It's a wonder the Hall has won as many games as they have with Mamu out for a significant stretch and Powell losing his shot after the concussion. SHU will take a step back next year (who wouldn't losing Powell, McKnight, and Gill) but with a team built around Mamu and Rhoden I still expect them to be very much in the NCAA Tournament mix.

Naji deserves some love. Averaging almost 17 a game on 44/35/70 shooting in big east play with 6.5 boards and 4 assists a game and is one of the best defenders in the league. We haven’t had the best year but he’s putting up all big east numbers

Could go either way. Nelson and Obiagu emerges big time and there's top 25 potential. Probably could use another grad-transfer guard, but I'm not sure if they have transfers already waiting in the wings.

Will the voters have the guts to vote a third party candidate?

I agree with this big time...regency bias but after watching last night in person Naji’s the player I least want to face of anyone in the conference. His size and skill combination is extremely tough.

I wanted to take a closer look. Naji has certainly had a good season and like Alexander, Baldwin and Bey, plays both sides of the ball well.

Here are conference only stats. Powell as POY might be tougher to sell than I thought when looking at numbers alone. He's struggled a bit from an efficiency standpoint. But where you finish should also count for something. Can someone who ends up playing on Wednesday in the BET be a legit POY candidate?

I can't remember- who votes for this, coaches or Media?

If it's coaches, i think they're going to be close to unanimous for Howard or Powell. Want to reward them for coming back to school....
