Getting 8 was always a close to impossible situation. It would require 7 teams regularly and then a bid thief in the tourney.

I wouldn't say close to impossible given a historically good ooc (which it would've been had Providence avoided a couple of truly bad losses). GU and Providence would be in, and that's despite stronger than expected top 5, or in other words, the exact opposite of B1G.

After watching the 4th quarter of the NBA All-Star game, I'm convinced that some variation of "Elam Ending" is the future of basketball. It'd probably hurt Tony Bennett a little bit, but I am sick of the foul fest to end so many games.

Probably a blessing in disguise. If I were SDSU, id rather be a 2 seed and play in the west than be a 1 seed playing in the east and Duke at MSG.

BYU just crushed Gonzaga at home. I think outside of a SMC collapse, the WCC has secured 3 tourney bids. Great year for that conference.

Not sure there's enough time left in the season for SMC to collapse right now(remember their season ends a week early). They right now probably have clinched avoiding Dayton quite frankly.

If they lose their last 2 games, then is bounced in the first wcc tourney game, SMC will probably be sweating a little come selection sunday especially if there are a couple of bid thieves. Beat Santa Clara and it's a no-doubt-about-it lock imo.

Only thing is 1st WCC tourney game for them would be vs either Pepperdine or San Francisco. they'd be sweating a bit, but probably would be fine. 1 more and it's totally lock city IMO.
