And let's remember there question being asked here - it's "which one would you prefer?" Not which is more difficult or more impressive or anything like that.

I, seemingly along with other fans of long time Big East schools, highly value the history and tradition of the Big East tournament. Fans of schools with less connection to that history value what they see as more difficult to win.

I love the magic of the Big East tournament. The 6OT game, Kemba leading 9th place UConn to 5 wins in 5 days and then further on to a national championship. Incredible things happen at the Garden and knockout tournament games just have an intensity that, in my mind at least, regular season games can't match.

Um both those examples are from things in the past 11years... I'm sure Marquette and Depaul can't relate to those...

How is that relevant? Nobody said you weren't around for them. They're just 2 examples of the many memorable moments created by the BET that I appreciate so much

As a fan, I'd rather my team win the regular season title, because that means my team is better, thus I value it more. To win the regular season title you are probably a top ten team and a top 2 seed. I'll take that 7 days a week and twice on sundays. That doesn't mean I don't value the Big East tournament. I want to win it just as much, but would i rather finish first or win the big east tournament if we were only able to do one? i'd definitely rather finish first. maybe that will change the longer we're in the big east, but i'm skeptical

Ah Haaa! So the regular season trophy that Nova and X won is a NEW addition for the conference. Now I get it. Previously there was only the trophy presented at the BET. OKAY then.
I didn't vote as I want BOTH trophies...ANNUALLY...For the next 20 years.
So was this new RS trophy something Val and Stu dreamt up since the reorganization? That explains a lot and why the c7ites stick to BE Tradition.
Regardless, it's nice to recognize the regular season winner with a trophy. ;)

Yes that’s it, testify my friend. I know the Bluejay Nation had a special connection with the “Creighton Invitational” in the Lou. We’re still settling in on Manhattan still, I’ve done one in MSG and thanks to great representation since we joined the conference it was great... this year I gotta guess the Blue Nation will be representing pretty solid.

They have been Big East Champions three times - 1983, 1986 and 2000 - those years they won the Big East Tournament and are the only years they won a mens' basketball Big East title.

Usually one of the teams that had a great season win the BE tournament but let's say a middle team or lower team won it, are you honestly saying you'd take 3 days of success and then a crap seed over the whole year being great, one rough game and a great seed? If you are then that's a ridiculous take that's still based on the "world revolves around the bright lights of NYC, and we need to be on one of the 5 channels on TV" mindsets

There's nothing ridiculous about preferring championships to sustained "pretty good"ness and a consolation prize.

The Big East Tournament championship is a consolation prize.

There are some interesting exceptions to this. If the choice was 2nd place in one and champion in the other, I'd take 2nd place in the regular season and champion in the BET. The 2nd place team is usually right behind the champion in tournament seeding (sometimes even ahead of them on the S-curve), so the seeding value isn't that significant, especially since a tournament championship could bump a team a couple spots up on the S-curve. Then, I'd rather win in Madison Square Garden; the NCAA Tournament is just my overall priority, but it's balanced out here. It gets tricky when you get to 3rd place in one and champion in the other, because in some weaker years, the 3rd place team is far behind 1st and 2nd. Even in the good years, though, there are usually a bit of a gap between 2nd and 3rd and thus a larger gap between 1st and 3rd, so I'd rather have the regular season championship. This year might be the exception to that, with how little difference there's projected to be between 1st and 3rd.

You don’t get the tradition I get that. Maybe you would have preferred to stay in the A10 and rack up those regular season trophy’s?
