Hopefully your next undersized PG from A10 works out...

Yeah, why I'm always so pessimistic about grad transfers from smaller schools. Just think of the 3 we've seen here with Big East in the last 2 years-
last year Chartouny with Marquette, Cremo with Villanova
this year Pipkens with Providence

not saying they're automatically awful, but there are people that think that they're automatically going to click. I'd be really interested to see the stats of just how many of these guys actually work.

Since I started following MU in 2008:

Karin Reinhardt was huge for us getting to the tournament in 2017, Matt Carlino made us at least entertaining during the worst season in my lifetime, Trent Lockett was instrumental in us getting to the elite 8, and Jayce Johnson is doing solid work this year.

Vs Chartouney being a flop for us.

Also nice job nova. Really frustrating to see us missing open looks we normally hit. But damn good defense on Markus. I wish we'd fouled with 40 sec left instead of letting you guys run out the clock.

It depends on what you expect/need.

If you gave him a reasonable expectation level I’d say Kelvin Jones has been worthwhile for CU. He screws up a few things in his 10 minutes a game but most of the time he comes up with enough positive plays to make him a neutral force. You wouldn’t make him an offer as a 4 year recruit but we need him.

Whether that is what you meant or not isn’t clear, but we are better with him as a team by a good piece than without him, because Denzel can’t play 25 a game at the 5.

Start with Zach Hankins from Xavier.

He's the 1st one of guys mentioned here that was a grad transfer.

I'll offer up Karem Kanter from Xavier by way of Green Bay a few seasons back. His first couple games he had me & my buddies saying WTF? Shortly thereafter and for the rest of the season he was a very solid contributor and complimentary piece to that #1 seeded team. His "old school" offensive repertoire and rebounding skills were so much fun to watch. Sure wish we would have had him for more than one year.

it'd be interesting to see a comparison of post players as grad transfers vs guard types as grad transfers.

Top FS1 announcers are of course Gus and Raftery,; and also Tim Brando, Tarik Turner, Donny Marshall... i'm fine with Simpkins for reasons mentioned in the past... Vin Parise is good, Bahe is fine, i like Lisa Byington... i think i heard Dave Sims a few times and he's really good.

Basically i want a knowledgeable announcer who's not a sad sack and cynical, and who seems to be enjoying the game and not being an ass or a sourpuss (sourpusses include like Sean McDonough, Jay Bilas, Billy Packer, or an idiot like Dan Dakitch, those smarmy types). Jeez, they have like the greatest job in the world, getting paid to watch top flight basketball and shoot the breeze for a couple of hours in front of a microphone. What's not to like?!

just a follow up here to my one tin soldier friend comments here. Excellent point about the "expert arrogant" announcers and how insufferable they are. Heck I know this isn't a popular opinion either here or with my hoop buddies, but I still really enjoy Bill Walton games (any teams, including his rare Xavier games) Dude always has me rolling on the floor laughing ( yeah I know I have a strange sense of humor).
As far as Pete Gillen goes, as Billy J. and Fellah Muskie have noted, he means no harm. After another heartbreaking loss at Hinkle last night ( or as my new best lady friend next to me 7 rows behind the Butler bench explained "the Cathedral of college basketball) we stopped by to say hello to Pete and get a more recent picture taken together. Still the pleasant friendly guy we had the pleasure to experience from back in the 80's when her led Xavier to seven NCAA appearances and one NIT in his 9 seasons there. Pete looks absolutely great for age 72.
Oh and to my good friend KMACKER, All of the Butler friends around us couldn't have been nicer or classier throughout and after the game to us. Kudos from here to the Butler Way!

Pete is entertaining and one of the nicest guys, but he just seems uncomfortable calling games for whatever reason

Terrell Allen is a grad transfer that's playing well.

Steve Lappas is a good color guy.

Underrated play by play guy who does midwestern region games on FS1/BTN is Bob Uecker's partner Jeff Levering. As for a color guy Steve Bardo.
