I am dying laughing at some of the responses right now. WELL DONE!

Don't get me a wrong, I realize this is a message board and sometimes threads like this will appear to keep things going, but not long ago somebody actually was mentioning St. Bonaventure as a possible candidate and I almost threw my computer across the room.

I love this conference, yes, I post that we need to pick it up in March, which I think is fair, but I think as of right now, we took the best teams possible and turned it into something special. Again, only other team that makes sense AT THIS POINT IN TIME is Gonzaga, but understandably geography is preventing that from happening.

Have always said that if Gonzaga moved the campus to Detroit they would be welcomed immediately

Stop recommending shitty MID-MAJOR crap teams. And some of you making the recommendations are fans of Old School BE Teams! COME ON!!!!! The 3 teams we added fit and that is that. UConn coming back is cream cheese. Gonzaga, if they were closer, perfect. All these other teams can take a hike.

What if uhhhhhh we added Dayton, and St. Bonaventure, and Canisius and Siena and Iona and Tokyo Clown College. I don't even know if VCU had a team before 1980 and besides 2011 they NEVER made it past the 2nd weekend. ENOUGH. ENOUGH. ENOUGH.

The train has left the station. Big East stays at 11. Thanks for coming out!

Chesty en fuego!

Yeah the two arguments that I don't get at all are as follows:

1. "We need ditch diggers so let's find a couple crappy programs that we can beat up on."
Look at this season. Heck, if PC was able to play up to their potential we'd have all 10 programs in a realistic position to make the dance prior to conference play. That's unheard of. We don't need ditch diggers. We just need to do well OOC. You don't think that if DePaul ends up on the bubble that they can't point to some of those preseason scalps--along with really no poison teams to worry about losing to in conf.? This year is closer to what this conference should be year in year out. We don't need ditch diggers.

2. We should look for more regional rivalries. Bring in Dayton or St. Joe's/Temple or VCU!
Um, no. X doesn't need to share the OH market. Nova doesn't need to share Philly. G'town should own DC Metro and No. VA. You want a regional rivalry? Play Big 5 games like Nova or do a Crosstown Rivalry game like X vs. UC in OOC.

Otherwise, 11 is nice. All else let's just stop already...
Go Nova!

I was going to something among the lines of "...they should really lock this thread and let it die". Then I saw what ChestRockwell said it way better I ever could.

Yeah it would be cool if there could be an expansion topic where all of these threads go as soon as they start

So, again as I did back in July I come in peace . Congrats on a great year by the Big East sorry for all of us what has happen. So I told you back then that Dayton would be very good and as you all saw we had the best player in the country , the team was terrific , had a GameDay and received and will continue to receive huge National attention thru the NBA draft. We will be even with OBi leaving very very good again next year. Our coach will be National coach of the year and we sold out every game. Not a one hit wonder, it was out 5th NCAA appearance in 7 years . Far more than many of the BIg East members. ESPN is on our bandwagon, we are returning to Maui in 4 years and back to Atlantis in 2 years. No one....no one other than Kentucky travels like we do. We are very profitable and now a National brand. Economics will make us the next fit for this great conference. TV lost there ass this March and are already pushing the NCAA for makeup money and more games to televise going forward. Next summer we will celebrate together 1

Great year for Dayton- but need to look forward here. Can they consistently be a Top 25 team? Xavier, Butler and Creighton all had excellent stretches right before they joined the Big East. Dayton needs to go beyond that given A. they overlap with Xavier's geography and B. 11 is a perfect number for us.

If Dayton is consistently a Top 10/25 team these next few years then they'll be tough to ignore, but I don't see that happening. I doubt their performance this year will be repeated anytime soon.

Congrats on winning the A10, but unless conferences start playing 22 game schedules and we need another team to match, I don't see any reason for the addition. Breaking up the double round robin simply shouldn't be an option. If we did expand though, Dayton would certainly be an option - probably 3rd on my wish list.

Huh? Not to diminish the accomplishment because it’s no small feat, but what the hell are you talking about? Somebody can correct me if I’m wrong but I’m pretty sure the following can all claim the same exact thing lol:

Providence
Seton Hall
Creighton
Butler
Xavier
Marquette
Nova

So, no, this is not far more than many of the Big East members. It’s actually the norm for 70% of the conference.

Dayton would be a nice replacement for UCONN in the AAC.
