One thing with the NET- that impact isn't anywhere near as large as it used to be with the RPI. Houston finished last season #4 in the NET, despite having 3 games against teams much worse than Providence- in the 200's. Key is they won by 44, 35, and 34 points. The fear with Providence here obviously is that they'll not even if they win keep it really close. A 2 point win vs Providence and you're dropping in the NET.

so saw a tweet from Kevin Pauga( he's Michigan St asst AD but also the guy who does the KPI).
Over the last eight seasons, SOR and KPI have the highest correlation to selection among the metrics on the team sheets (96% correlation). The men’s basketball committee trends in favor of results-based metrics. Predictive ratings have influenced seeding more in recent years.

looking at the Big East so far this season-
Butler 7
DePaul 10
Marquette 16
Creighton 32
Villanova 33
Xavier 40
Georgetown 41
Seton Hall 76
St John's 81
Providence 212

just crazy to see DePaul in the top 10 and not think something is massively wrong.

Based on this, I would think 6-7 bids.

Yeah. need to see how conference play shakes out. Can Georgetown keep up with only 7?

BTW, what I posted was SOR.

Gonna be hilarious when the next set of brackets have 9 Big East teams in.

Especially hilarious that it's happening the last weekend of OOC play. Meaning it's legitimate and not based on pre-season expectations. I'm thinking 7-8 teams Dance.

right now except for Providence, if a team goes 9-9 in conference play, they're going dancing. That's so different than ever before in this new setup.

The # of teams that go will hinge on how the season goes. This year is really the test of the round robin IMO.

8 with mediocre seeds or 6 or so with good seeds. If parity is real, it may be preferable to have 8 teams in. It's gotta be surreal right now as a SJU fan talking bracketology!
