Just my opinion

Then go to the theatre or watch it on a drama series not on a sports network where you expect to see sports.

The theatre? It’s not an opera. This reaction is so over the top. There’s nothing wrong with a sports entertainment network showing an entertainment sport and there’s a lot of crossover between wrestling fans and other sports. Good move by Fox imo.

I want to start out by saying this post should not be read with a hostile tone. This is only my opinion.

I'd liken it a lot more to ballet than opera. Lot's of jumping, dancing around, over-exaggerated movements that serve no purpose in the real world, etc.

I honestly have no taste for professional wrestling. I come from a wrestling family, real wrestling. We start at age 6, numerous D1 scholarship wrestlers. I also did mixed martial arts for the better part of a decade. All of that said, Fox is business. If they can make money putting WWE on the air I'm not going to be offended by it. I don't like it but there's always something else on.
This is my opinion. There are many like it, but this one is mine.

What are we going to say when Fox adds live e-sports to FS1 programming? I bet you it's coming at some point. These are fast growing, passionate fan bases willing to pay a lot of money to watch their preferred event.

When I graduated I had Chicago Golden Gloves champion 2011 and 2012 on my resume. I went to an interview where the guy said "wow that's awesome, nowhere near as violent as wrestling that's where the real contact is" at first I thought he was talking Greco Roman and he followed up by saying "I mean in wrestling you have to know how to slap, punch, hit with chairs and jump. That's the top of the contact sports."

Maybe you get some weird kick from it while understanding it's fake. But that is not the case for everybody in my experiences and putting it on a sports network only fosters that.

So you ran into one idiot who was a wrestling fan and now you don't want a sports entertainment channel to carry wrestling because the fans are stupid? seems like that's still an over the top reaction.

btw i'm not a wrestling fan and don't watch it, but i still think it was a good move by fox

seems like it may be more "offensive" to people with combat sports backgrounds. i don't watch it either, but from a business perspective it was a good move

FS1 is a fledgling network.

ESPN has been procuring the live sports properties it wants, such as the UFC not long ago, and FS1 has needed to think outside the box (or octagon, if you will).

The WWE will be a staple of FS1 going forward. ESPN will never go there.

As it was, Smackdown has always languished as a second-rate B show for WWE.

HOWEVER, FS1 has insisted they make it a 1b. type show by asking for better talent.

To add to better pro wrestlers, FS1 created a WWE News Show that’s dedicated to analyzing the matches like NFL Today. They’re trying to transcend the “fake” stigma by analyzing the matches and wrestlers like they do for basketball.

It’s a bold new approach to doing wrestling.

I would expect to see more crossover with the WWE and FS1s other properties, like CM Punk showing up on set to drill free throws and talk DePaul hoops (he’s from Chicago), because like GoldenWarrior said, they are trying to build up viewership on other shows with the wrestling fans who’ve been largely ignored by the WWL.

Just to repeat my original statement...

It absolutely blows that the Big East has to share a sports network with WWE. It's fake and asinine, i don't give a shit about their ratings, and it's not a sport. Better off with "Arliss" or Matlock re-runs. "Chopped" on the Food Network is more competitive. I can't imagine there are many crossover fans between WWE and college hoops. Plus WWE fans must have an average age of 12.

Those Friday Night Smackdown commercials are pretty dope though! And yes if they show up at Midnight Madness or halftime shows it cold spice up the CHI Health Center’s

Would rather watch the world tag games, American ninja, the slap competitions, Darts, Gaelic sports, Aussie rules, rugby, cricket (serious money opportunity here with so many Indian and Pakistani descendants in the states), MLS, more premier league games, better boxing Matches. List to be continued.

While we’re at it let’s get rid of nascar and all racing, not a sport. UFC, not a sport. Talk shows, not a sport. One, not a sport. I can keep going on.

Since it seems you only want sports with a “ball” or some 80s reruns of shows nobody ever cared about I decided to be nice and post the definition of sport below. WWE falls squarely in the definition of sport even if you’d rather see two dudes in college in leggings grinding up against each other instead.

“an activity involving physical exertion and skill in which an individual or team competes against another or others for entertainment.“

The problem is the "competes against" portion. WWE is pre-scripted with the winners determined in advance to fit their story lines. There is no competition. That doesn't mean it doesn't require athleticism or skill, but it isn't a sport without the competition aspect.
This is my opinion. There are many like it, but this one is mine.
