Reports this afternoon have Watson ready to go within two weeks and Pipkins should be ready by the first game. Pipkins is a Chicago bred point guard who will push the pace and plays with a lot of swag and has killed the friars the last few seasons while at Umass. Cooley has been using a 24 second clock at practice and wants to play at a faster pace this year. Look for David Duke to shine this year at the off guard position and has greatly improved with the Pan Am game experience this summer.

Probably hard to infer much about any Big East team playing without their leader and starting PG.

Sure...if you say so. But Saddiq played pretty well at point forward.
I'd say they played "young", had a poor shooting night - 37% FG/23.5% 3pters, and not much help from the bench - 4 pts.
Probably won't get much better at UNC, but will hold opinion until Nov 13 @ OSU.

Honestly I don't know how that doesn't alarm more providence fans. 4 years is a pretty good sample size and it's not like you haven't had the talent to be better. Watching you guys run offense is like pulling teeth.

I think shooting is a talent and providence doesn't have any. That's the main problem with their team is they can't shoot. Great Defense and they should get more open looks with Pimpkins, but the question is will they be able to knock down those open shots. Their FT shooting indicates: No.

Talking about a 4 year trend though. Compare them to Xavier last year. Both shot 33.3% from 3 and 69% from the line. Horrific. The shooting talent on each team was comparable. I'd argue Providence had better shooting. They had 7 guys at or above 30% from 3, Xavier had just 3. However, our overall field goal percentage was 47% to providence's 42% and we finished the year 56th in offensive efficiency compared to 164th for providence. That is all about running offense to get your guys in positions to succeed/score. If this was a one year thing, it'd be easier to explain away, but this is every year.

Defensive athleticism is also a talent, and a talent that Creighton is still needing 7 years after joining the BEAST. We’ve led the conference in shooting and even with two of the best shooters on one team we didn’t win a championship. Nova and X are the only two teams that legitimately can claim both, followed by Hall and then Providence... Nova obviously is far above the rest but those schools are the only ones to have won a championship in the last 7 years.

Sorry, claim both what? Shooting and defense? Not challenging, just unsure what you're saying.

Glad I'm not the only one who didn't follow that at all
