X has an impressive 20 year run in March including the 5 tourney appearances since joining the BEast. A S16 and an E8 in 5 trips certainly qualifies as "making noise". Granted, we have 3 Elite 8's and a host of S16's but have yet to make a Final Four. In fact X has the most Tournament wins nationally in that time period w/o getting there BUT the Big East affiliation is the missing piece in making it happen.

PS - I love how you took "Xavier is really in good shape, great recruiting" out of my message so you could talk smack. Well done. Not there yet bud.
I left it out because YOU TORCHED any sincerity you may have had with the last sentence of your post.
Do I think that the Big East AS A WHOLE needs to pick it up in March? F YES! Tell me I'm wrong. Do you feel that the way the Big East has performed in March AS A WHOLE since the new Big East has formed represents the performance of a true "Power" conference? I don't. You take Villanova out of the equation and it really gets scary. With that being said, Xavier is probably the last team besides Villanova that these thoughts are directed towards.

I have ALWAYS been extremely complimentary of Xavier and started a thread a few months ago complimenting them on their stellar recruiting class. I see Villanova and Xavier starting a rivalry in the new Big East because these are the 2 programs I feel will continue to be the most consistent performers.

Do I think teams like Butler, Providence, Seton Hall, G'Town, Creighton, Marquette, etc. are going to put together stellar years here and there? Absolutely, but as of right now, again, I see Villanova and Xavier as the most CONSISTENT.

To conclude, I understand your enthusiasm, I am excited about Xavier as well because I have enough sense to realize that the Big East needs as many strong teams as possible, but take it down a notch and realize Xavier has never been to a final four and Villanova has cut down the nets twice in the last 3 years, not to mention 1985, and not to mention being to the finals twice before as well as 2 other final fours (one as recent as 2009). If you want to pound your chest, go ahead, you have a lot to be excited about, but if you want to try and show dominance, try another fanbase that might actually be impressed, because it is clear who the most dominant team in this league has been. Not yet there bud.
Other than the two or three XU smack talkers who post to this board incessantly, I believe that most Xavier fans agree with you. In fact, I strongly suspect that even the smack talkers agree as well, and simply talking pre-season trash because that's what a lot of fans do. In my view, Nova is still the king until they are dethroned. Unfortunately for the rest of the Big East, that is by no means likely in the near future although this year will be more competitive at the top than any year since the NBE was formed. Xavier and Seton Hall will give Nova a run for its money this season, and frankly there are two or three others that might as well. That's good for the league, of course, and hopefully translates into more post-season success for teams not named Villanova.
Xavier will surprise. Never count them out of the Dance.

The X vs Nova smack talk in this thread is tiresome. The bottom line X fans is you want to be Nova, but you're not. You are to us as Dayton is to you. The X fans seem to twist themselves in a pretzel trying to compare themselves to us and frankly we don't even look in our rear view mirror to even care (much like how you guys react to Dayton fans yapping to you). In the last 14 games you guys have played Dayton I believe you are 9-5. Well in our last 14, we're 12-2 against X. Let that sink in as you consider how far above Dayton you guys think you are. I'm sure you dismiss the Dayton fans who chest thump about those 5 specific games they beat you. We feel the same way. Even if we we go 0-3 against you this year, do you really think a year here or a year there defines who is top dog? No it doesn't.

I have no doubt that it's probably been very frustrating for your fan base these past few years--especially when you've had two of the best teams in program history. But still you had to endure watching us take much of the national spotlight. You want the national narrative of the BE to include more X. I would love to see that too honestly, because collective success is good for the conference. But it's not going to be handed to you. I'll say politely what you already know. You guys need to make a FF. Stop talking about how great your program is and simply make a FF. 8, soon to be 9, other programs in this conference have done so. You can talk about Dwayne Wade, and Billy the Kid and PJ & the Pirates as if it is a lifetime ago. Doesn't matter...they've been there. They had a shot at it all. X cannot be considered a true top tier national BB program until they do it. It may not be fair; it may be painful to accept. But it is reality. Sorry, but you'll always be that "cute little puppy" program until you bust through.

So feel free to keep yapping your gums about who you think the top dog is for 19-20. I get it. Those most insecure are usually the ones that need to talk about how great they are, before trying to prove it. But know this, and it's not blowing smoke in any way, as a Nova fan I am MUCH more worried about SHU taking our crown this year than X. X and Nova both lost 3 of their top 7 rotational players. SHU lost only one and bring back the best player in the league.

I just re-read the entire thread and it's mostly a smack talk drenched back and forth between VU/XU fans on a Conference board. What's predictable is that the Nova contingent (headed by their point man Gumby) insists on other fans to kiss the proverbial ring. It's just not gonna happen from X fans. Whether it be on this board, at the office or over a cold beer.

Here's the thing. Most everything posted here from XU fans have been made in the spirit of the thread title. They are based on LAST years results and returning rosters. Particularly the last 2 games once our coach got control of the locker room. That's all we have to go on.

In turn the Nova posts here are almost exclusively propped up with results of seasons where literally no current players contributed much of anything. On top of that they are riddled with insults, tired sarcasm and back handed compliments.

I don't think anything more can be said here until showtime.

"I'm here to help you in any way I can. You believe that Xuperman, right...that I'm here to help you in any way I can? You can have all the preseason predictions you want. We can deal with all the bullets and the insults...we don't want money and we don't want medals...But what we do want is for you to stand there with your Xavier mouth and extend some f'ing courtesy!"

Yeah, you must have missed the posts that called out PC and SHU as well. This thread is all about bluster. You guys are feeling confident. That's fine. Your team and your coach will have to prove it on the court.

Have any neutral parties picked X to win the Big East? I've seen a bunch of picks for Nova and SHU plus 1 for PC but that's all I can recall at the moment.

You guys must've lost it over that Andy Katz video picking you guys 5th lol

Hey showtime, you never answered my question, do you feel that the Big East....AS A WHOLE, has performed admirably in the tournament since the formation of the new BIG EAST? Because you took a general statement and made it all about Xavier. Still interested in your thoughts.

I didn't see it, but andy did pick us 9th last year, so by the transitive property, andy is picking us to win the league
