2020 Recruiting Class- THE BEST EVER!!!

Adoraz could this end up being unironically our best class since realignment? How does it compare? Unfortunately, nova probably won't contribute much, but it seems like the league on the whole is recruiting better than ever.

We have 9 four stars currently committed to current Big East schools (so excluding uconn for now). I don't remember the exact numbers, but I think on our best years we've had 14-15 four stars total in a class, so to have 9 right now this early seems pretty significant.

Just taking a cursory glance over the top 150 prospects, Big East schools have crystal balls for:
#32 - Dawson Garcia - Marquette
#76 - Ben Carlson - Xavier
#90 - Nate Tabor - St. John's
#92 - Osasere Ighodaro - Marquette
#149 - Jakobe Coles - Butler

Seems like we're in a good position to have one of our best collective classes as a conference

Sorry didn't see this, it absolutely could be the best, or at least top 2/3. 2013 will be tough to beat but we are off to a strong start, and that is without recruits from UConn or Nova yet. I think Nova will get some late in the cycle.

As for 4 stars, I should dig up those lists again. I tried actually when creating this thread, but some of the 247 conference pages are kind of broken for these rankings so I got frustrated and gave up. On the conference pages some are listed as 4* but only 3* on top rankings page (both for Composite- it made not sense). Also the number of 4 stars varies by year, so I started just listing based on # instead.

The only scenario for Nova for 2020 is if one of the current players bolt prematurely after a good year. In that case it would be a late add for any players that wait to see NBA draft fallout. Keep in mind we have Caleb Daniels (transfer from Tulane) eligible next year and no one scheduled to graduate.

How does a player that is good enough to transfer to Villanova initially end up at a program like Tulane? Tulane is a poster child for AAAAACK ineptitude. We beat on the bottom of that conference mercilessly and with full justification.

What was the kid thinking when he finally pulled the trigger to go there? Did he not have many options and went for the NOLA charm and Tulane academics? Did he then blow-up performance-wise and realized that he could do better AND wanted to do better?

I certainly understand we've all had some interesting transfers over the years that have worked out: Ferris State to Xavier comes to mind. But Tulane to Nova sticks out. At least to me.

Bottomline: good for Daniels - - he made a great decision.

I think this is just a case of someone a little undervalued as a HS player who physically matured, and developed into a pretty good college player. Rankings often miss the mark. That's why I never recommend anyone getting too excited about any player's ranking alone, until you see them step foot on the court. For Nova, guys like Darren Hillard and Dante DiVincenzo (100+) flew under the radar and became studs while guys like Quinnerly and Dom Cheek (top 25) struggled. You just never know. Daniels I think realized that Tulane (local school for him) would never be able to showcase his talents. This is a bit like what Eric Paschall experienced with Fordham. If you're going to take a run at the NBA or big time college hoops, playing in the BE on one of its flagship programs certainly offers a different opportunity.

I've never seen the kid play. But he's a big, physical guard. We could always use one of those.

You'd know better than me, but at this point I just expect Nova to send a player or two to the NBA each year. They have a very good class coming in (top 5 nationally which includes #16 and #17), so I'd be surprised if they retain everyone.

i think purdue is the bigger threat, but yea hopefully dwon can help seal the deal. getting carlson or bridges would all but lock up a top 15 class and we'd have the #1 class for a little while at least as well

from a purely basketball standpoint, we are in a great spot as probably his best offer. join a top 15 class and back to back top 25 classes.
