Haven't seen Stever in a few weeks. He was pushing the "well the AAC could add VCU to replace UConn, and based on recent history........." narrative. Now the AAC has stated they won't be adding anyone, so even that goes out the window. It's going to be a pretty interesting year.

As for the TV contract, I expect a substantial bump. Probably won't hear anything until a year from now right before UConn joins.

It's hilarious how many hot takes there were regarding UConn leaving for a "lower" TV contract and that this was just about nostalgia. As if UConn admin couldn't do basic math in regards to tier 2 rights, ticket sales, future TV valuation, travel costs, etc.

He's still around. He just made a thread entitled "great column on AAC Basketball" on the other site.

But but Aresco is just waiting for the uconn exit to be finalized to announce BYU and VCU...

More likely all their targets said no thanks.

Stever:
Losing UConn is a blow for what the American’s ceiling can be. But with UCF, Temple, Tulsa and SMU all having proven capable of playing their way into an at-large bid, the conference will effectively be what it was with UConn there – a safe-bet to get three bids with four programs at the top that are annually in the at-large mix.

With respect to Stever, those words came directly from the article; however, he clearly agreed with the analysis, otherwise he would not have made a new thread to highlight it.

Just incredible how much the goal posts have moved.

Last month: UConn has an excellent incoming class and will take the AAC to the next level
Last week: Losing UConn isn't good, but VCU would be a great replacement
Now: AAC will still get just as many bids without UConn

There will always be "The thing is......."
