Questions For Dayton Fans

Please spare me this discussion good lord. Xavier doesn't want to do home and homes with Dayton anymore. Who cares? Xavier fans aren't admonishing Georgetown for not scheduling a home and home with VCU every year or Villanova with lasalle every year

One pair is not like the others. VCU and Georgetown don’t share a market (they’re 90 miles apart in two separate DMAs, GU is in the #6 market, VCU is in the #56 market. VCU is much closer to the #44 market (Va Beach) than DC, but being a state school pulls from all over the commonwealth. It’s a reason why I think posters here discount VCU too easily, when out of a crop of SLU, UD and VCU - VCU stands out for recent history (through 5 coaches), endowment $1.8 Billion, media rights deal ($2 million/year which is in the same tier as GU’s Fox Sports deal based on performance), and being on the I-95 corridor in a major city. Being a state school with 32k students and another 15k employees can only help. Outdoing UD in NYC conference tournament attendance and NCAA performance also helps.

Even if VCU never gets invited, I wouldn’t understand why the BE would add Dayton. It would be a redundant addition to the conference by a school with great attendance but lacking performance outside of Archie. The Big East can sit and wait until a candidate forces the Conference to add them through great NCAA performance. Hopefully that’s VCU and the program pushes late into March this year.

VCU and UD are never getting into the BE. They add no value. The 11 teams we have are perfect without needing to add anyone, EVER.

Now, the BE might want to add a team but VCU and UD will never be in the want category. Sorry.

This last post is why the Xavier and Dayton game would be great. We are two very good programs and Schools, Xavier had a terrific AD who with the great coaches they had timed success with realignment to become a member of the Big East. No reason that with our team and AD at this time we cannot accomplish the same. X has no real rival besides UC , Dayton would challenge them and Gus would open a game saying...these two teams don’t like each other!! That does not exist in today’s Big East. Xavier has hit the wall, they failed last year and this year is no brighter. Many on this board never thought expansion would come this fast or that UConn would be back. Money and only Money talks. Dayton Brings the money that Fox wants and will get. X fan embrace it only a matter of time.

It looks like Xavier's an opportunistic bunch. Why don't they play Dayton? You don't see Providence telling URI to get lost.

We already play that game. Every year. Small private school vs large local state school.
Xavier University vs University of Cincinnati.

Rivalries? The round robin format has created intensity in virtually every Big East conference game during the season. The Big East tournament is electric.

And UConn is delivering the television money.

Not only does UD add no value to the BE, it makes little sense for XU to play UD in the OOC. We own UD. UD struggles in their league and can’t win in March. Beating them regularly like XU does wows no one.

Steele is a miss and X will continue its fall. They couldn’t compete in a soft Big East last year. Look we were asked why Dayton, I have watched this board and never posted until today. We are clearly the right fit and Over time will be a part of the conference as expansion and TV money rule the day.The X fan lives in the past and this year will feel the pain we did as Dayton blows by Xavier in the National arena. This is a great debate , when I was at UD we treated Xavier as two automatic wins a year... to there credit they took the lead and blew by us. Times change and they are about to change again.

well we've played what 3? games at msg in the big east. maybe some of our early games weren't home and homes and we never went out to omaha? idk
