The BE was fine at 10. They clearly were not interested in adding garbage programs from the A10 or Valley to get to 11 or 12. Only UConn made sense and the BE could afford for UCONN to make the wise choice to essentially give up on big time football and come back to the BE.
Because 11 is fine for a basketball conference, there continues to be no need to add a 12th team not named Notre Dame or Kansas. Period, end of story.
THIS. And probably over Creighton? DEFINITELY over my Jays. The stars lined up for us with McBuckets and our then-president Fr. Lannon, who graduated from CU during our breakout years in the 60s and 70s to get into this conference and our only true hated rival is Nerdbrasketball, which we are locked up even with in wins in our series all-time with, and they just grabbed Fred F-ing Hoiberg, turns out is a Nebraska native.
Like I said, things are heating up in the East of the Beast, and things are heating up out West.
And just to be clear, Omaha historically was, is and always will be the “Gateway to the West,” but not the West. Draw a line down the middle and Omaha is in the East, Lincoln, Lawrence are in the WEST. KU can join the PAC, we will take the Irish
Speaking of Omaha, we gotta figure out a way to improve Big East baseball.

Of course not. But the Jayhawks aren’t coming here. Nor is Duke. But i’d Prefer the above to another milquetoast midwestern school. IF they got their houses in order, which they in all likelihood won’t. I would love a BE presence in Beantown again. I don’t care about St Louis or Dayton or whomever the latest midwestern program of the week happens to be. Sue me.

Says the closet UD fan
The BE at 10 didn’t need UD. UD brings nothing.
The BE at 11 doesn’t need to add anyone short of ND or Kansas. Both are unlikely but it’s better to wait for either of those two than to add in a mid major garbage program like UD.

I've floated this before elsewhere, but as it seems the all-sports travel issue is too much to overcome with Gonzaga right now, I wouldn't hate it if the Big East as a conference pursued a limited scheduling agreement with Gonzaga directly (since the Zags can pretty much dictate whatever they want to the WCC). Either two or four games a year with BIg East schools on a home/away split, eventually cycling through the whole conference over a period of time. In fact, if you got the Zags to sign up for 4 games a year against Big East teams, with the BE expanding to 11, the Big 12 being at 10, and the Gavitt Games at 8 teams, you could offset the Big 12/BE challenge with the Gavitt Games, fill in the four teams who didn't have both a BE/B12 and GG matchup with a Gonzaga matchup, and every year the entire conference would be guaranteed two out of three of a Big 12, B1G, or Gonzaga opponent on top of the 20-game conference schedule. Could be a useful feeling-out period between the conference and the school, and gives an official reason for those lines of communication to remain open year-round.

You should worry about getting your own house in order first. Dayton averaged almost twice as many fans per game as Georgetown did. http://fs.ncaa.org/Docs/stats/m_basketball_RB/2019/Attendance.pdf
