Okay so he's not even trying to act like he is a fan of a Big East team anymore right?

Stever:

perceptionwise this is horrible for the AAC.

For football, it's definitely a blessing. Lose one of the 10 worst programs in college football.... You take UConn out of the AAC last year, and only 3 teams had fewer than 5 wins. For a G5 league- that's not bad.

For basketball, it's one of those things of perception vs reality. UConn in basketball last 5 years is only 38-25 OOC and 43-47 in conference play. So outside of structurally, how is losing that going to hurt much? Now, the problem that I see for the AAC is if they stay at 11 for basketball and go double round robin, that's just dumb as hell. If they stay at 11, I'd keep it at 18 conference games.

I just love how Big East fans want to act like this is absolutely devastating for basketball for the AAC. Sorry but it isn't. This isn't Uconn of 5-20 years ago. This is UConn of the last 3 years- who was one of only a handful of top 7 conference programs that finished sub .500 overall each of the last 3 years. Not even Cal can say that. If the league gets VCU to replace UConn, sorry, but the on court ratings wouldn't be hurt at all....

Also perception wise, I think losing UConn may help the AAC in that they no longer have folks saying they need to move.

GoldenWarrior11

That AAC team that it is losing, which averaged a 94.4 in Ken Pom as you state, was the exact same program that you used as evidence why the AAC would be stronger (or as strong) than the Big East moving forward over the past few seasons. You have used Kevin Ollie's firing, Dan Hurley's hiring, the resurgence in recruiting this year, the steady comparables in home attendance, and the improvements this past year all as reasons why AAC Men's Basketball will be a steady major seven basketball conference year-to-year (despite its under-performance).

Now you use that same program (which is now moving back to the Big East - and which evidence you utilized has not changed) as reasons it is actually not bad for AAC Men's Basketball in "reality"?

With all due respect, you backed yourself into a corner with this one.

Stever

not really though... . I mean I could have thought that UConn would bounce back, and they would improve the league obviously. However, at the same time, now that they are going, the AAC isn't replacing a team that has been strong, and yet it's clearly a top 7 confernece.

Both things can be true at the same time.

Like c'mon guy, are you even trying anymore? It's been obvious for years that you are a AAC homer and now it's official, no more "oh im a GTown fan!" bullsh--.

It was great over the weekend when he was just stunned and hand't researched his talking points for why it was bad for the Big East just yet.

‘The thing is’

This fraud will take every side of a 20 sided die to try to make a point. He started out as a Georgetown fan. That was proven false long ago. Then he moved on to being an old school BE fan. He missed the old dynamic of the BE circa 2005-2013, I guess. And he reaalllly wanted us (c7) to sign up with the shitshow schools currently in the aac because ‘continuity’ or something. I guess. Then, after every effing measure in the world, every damn year showed the BE to be utterly superior to his beloved aac, he would choose another side of the die. If only this bounce had gone that way. In. Every. Single. Damn. Game.

‘Oh, well UConn has been down, they’re OBVIOUSLY going to come back’. That was a core of the Stever philosophy. In Stever world, every single aac team will achieve at the height of their historical performance. So, I guess, Cincy might be good based upon 60 year old results, Houston will lose to Georgetown, Memphis will have whatever they do vacated because they are a shit school that cheats and gets vacated, and then there is temple. But! Ucf (isn’t that a fighting league) and ecu (they are a flagship of the state of East Carolina) will get it together, right? Until UConn moved, they were one of Stever’s saviors! ‘Well, if UConn and Memphis return to form, we will assume that cheating memphis, Cincy, and ucf will maintain form, and see how close to the BE that is’

The ack played it’s tournament games in front of ~1000 people. The BE plays in front of the largest crowds of all conferences.

F you Stever, go whine on csnaaaaack

* edited acc to aac. Because my autocorrect always wants to say acc. But muh p6!

I think we should have a "Holy Land of Hoops: Hall of Fame Posts" and this whole thing should be the first inductee.

100% without question, my favorite Stever quote was:

"Big East fans are like Fox News fans. They only want to hear their side of things. It's what is wrong with folks today. Folks don't want to debate. They want 100% affirmation..... It's what's ******* wrong with America today."

The general consensus amongst most Americans is that the biggest problem facing the country are all the delusional AAC fans on the internet.
