A Review of Villanova

Ouch. A rough end to the season. But...they'll be much better next season!
OUT:
*Eric Paschall
*Joe Cremo
*Phil Booth

BACK:
*Dhamir Cosby-Roundtree
*Jermaine Samuels
*Collin Gillespie
*Jahvon Quinerly
*Cole Swider
*Saddiq Bey

IN:
*Jeremiah Robinson-Earl
*Bryan Antoine
*Justin Moore
*Eric Dixon

Booth and Paschall will be missed but Nova doesn't rebuild. They reload and will yet again be a contender for Big East champs. They were expected to be dethroned this season but Jay Wright wouldn't let that happen.

They're incoming freshman are all 5 and 4 stars. They're going to run away with the league, by far the best class in the league maybe since it formed. They're ranked 3rd in the country on 24/7. More of the same for the league.

You meant to say Marquette wouldn't let that happen.
I will personally miss Pillsbury/Krisspy Kreme and the others. They've been a great core for Nova.
Great incoming class with my boy Robinson-Earl. I would've given both balls to have JRE in Creighton Blue (I'm 68 and have no more use for 'em). Nova will be competitive come January and after all the newbies settle in. IMO no given team will run away with the league.

Next season will look alot like this one with many teams improving and all beating up on one another. 3-4 game separation at the top and another logjam with the other 8. We need to move to 12 with adding a couple of bottom feeders. Probably another 4 bid season next season. Hopefully we can do better in the dance next season. :o

Andrew Slater will return as well. They'll definitely have the most raw talent, but a little less experience than usual

He was so little used that the OP forgot about Slater, and it's Brandon... :D

Nova's ceiling is hopefully final four, but admittedly the floor may be even lower than this season. We may not have a PG again.

A blessing for me is that Eric Dixon is the new Pillsbury @ 6-7/390...errr, 290. The tradition continues.  ;)

Will Quinerly be a more focal part of the team next season?

Yeah, that was an ugly way to end the season for sure. But they were the last BE team standing in the tourney and brought both reg season and BET banners to the Finn. I'm proud of those kids.

So our buys Paschall and Booth move on. Two rings on their fingers as they leave. Warriors. We'd have been in trouble if both didn't come back this year. The young kids weren't ready to roll yet (except Bey). I'm intrigued that for the first time in a LONG time we won't have that undeniable upperclass/Sr. leader. The team next year will (barring transfers or anything else) be together for the next 2 years. I don't want to say "wait until 2021" but that team should be absolutely loaded when all these talented kids get some experience.

What they need:
- JQ to grow up and become a Nova guard; no showboating; no Jelly Fam; just hard-nosed, tough guard in the mold of Brunson, Arch and Lowry.
- DCR needs to shoot 500 jump shots a day until he can make a shot from outside of 5 feet; Jay's best offense is 5 shooters in the floor. If he cant do it, then we go small(ish) with JRE, Swider, Samuels and Bey along the front line. All can shoot the 3.
- Swider and Slater just need to get time and get stronger. I think both are going to play big roles next year.
- With the exception of Gillespie and JQ, we're going to be long all over the place next year. Bey, Samuels, Slater, Swider, JRE, DCR, Dixon. Even Antoine and Moore are bigger guards.
- You have to think that someone like Dixon red-shirts. They need to balance out the classes a bit more and he might just need time to start developing his body (like Bridges did when he arrived).

Maybe no sure thing,1st Team All-BE players on the roster, but their top 11 might all individually have the talent to be All-BE 2nd team. It'll be interesting... In Jay We Trust.
Go Nova!
