Even after St. Mary's won, Shelby Mast of USA Today has both Creighton and Georgetown in Dayton.

NC State gets a critical win over Clemson. Both are bubble teams.

NC State and Indiana both going to lose today. I think they are directly on the bubble or just on the wrong side.

Pace favors Creighton right now. We need to do a better job in transition.

Assuming 12 teams get NIT automatic bids (which seems about where it ends up each year), the BE will be represented by at least 2, and upto 4 teams this season.

Creighton - lock
Georgetown - lock
Xavier - lock if they best nova & lose in the finals
Providence - ?
Butler & DePaul - no shot

So Jay Bilas with his top 68... Was done on Wednesday....

His one for St John's is pretty good....
45. St. John's Red Storm
A maddening team, especially on the defensive end, St. John's has some really good wins and some equally confounding losses. Wins over Villanova, Seton Hall and Georgetown were followed by losses to those teams, but two wins over Marquette might get St. John's into the field. Jekyll and Hyde were more consistent.

love the last line!

for other BE Teams
16. Villanova Wildcats
Jay Wright has done a remarkable job ... again. The Villanova culture won the Big East title this year more than anything else. Only two Big East teams finished above .500 in conference play: Villanova and Marquette. Amazing.

17. Marquette Golden Eagles
The Golden Eagles were in the driver's seat with four games remaining but lost all four heading into the Big East tournament. But now that the regular-season hay is in the barn, it is all about getting refreshed and getting Markus Howard, Sam Hauser and Joey Hauser with fresh minds and fresh legs. Marquette can still win in March. This is a good team.

40. Seton Hall Pirates
The Pirates are just like Indiana, but they have a better conference record and did not have the same extended swoon. Seton Hall has beaten Kentucky, Maryland, Marquette and Villanova and has only a few losses that make you raise your eyebrows. The metrics don't favor the Hall, but Myles Powell can take over and beat you.

49. Creighton Bluejays
Creighton has gotten itself into the NCAA tournament discussion by winning five in a row entering the Big East tournament, but Greg McDermott's team likely still has some work to do at Madison Square Garden. The Bluejays are here in large part because they're sixth in the nation in effective field goal percentage (56.9).

54. Butler Bulldogs
The Bulldogs are just one game over .500, but the metrics systems like them, thanks to wins over Ole Miss and Florida and the absence of a lot of truly bad losses. With Kamar Baldwin (17.5 points, 5.0 rebounds per game) leading the way, they are capable of making a run at Madison Square Garden.

It seems to me we have a pretty clear picture of what's in front of us. I think we have (4) teams solidly in (although SJU sure didn't help itself with that performance last night).

Nova & Marq. seem to be in that 5-7 seed range. Really outside shot that one of the two could squeeze into a 4 seed but unlikely. If the two meet in the finals then it may be the winner is a 5 and the loser a 6. If either both/lose tonight, they are probably 6/7.

SHU - probably in that 8-10 range. If they beat Marq and then VU again, they really should be a 7 at worst IMO. With wins v. UK, @ MD (although that has lost a bit of luster with MD's performance vs Nebraska) Marq (2x) and Nova (2x), they've got to move up a seed line or two (especially with how they finished off the season).

SJU - prob an 11. If any more bid steals, they could move down to 12. That team has way too much talent to be where they are right now.

X - they have to just focus on win 2 and you're in. That would be a really dangerous 10-12 seed if they can pull it off.

Nova/Marquette- I think both are probably safe out of the 7 seed realm. I think 5/6 is where they're going to be.... Pretty much no matter what now.

Seton Hall- Think they're right now an 8. If they can win out, probably moves up to a 7. Still have those 12 losses, and metrics still don't favor them.

St John's- 11 and a fair bet to head to Dayton as one of the last 4 teams in. The Bilas quote was awesome... Jekyll and Hyde were more consistent. Still could get squeezed out if teams like Nevada, Washington and Arizona St, Buffalo, VCU lose this week(and some of them looked pretty mediocre yesterday)

Xavier- would be interesting if they can make it.

St John's fans:
The next 2 days you should start a full-on blitz to remind the pundits about getting screwed at Seton Hall in January.
Just load up Twitter and everywhere that you should be 22-11. Don't go completely unhinged, but make sure you push this message non-stop. This would be a great assignment for MullinMayhem.

Also, NC State is horrible. Their non-conference schedule is ridiculously bad. And they suck.

The thing that was amazing about last night was Mullin didn't politc at all for his team.....

St John's right now is at the mercy of the bubble. They really need Buffalo, Nevada, VCU, Washington or Arizona St, Houston/Cincy/Temple/UCF, Not West Virginia, etc. to win their conference tournaments. If there are 4-5 bid thieves- St John's is in trouble.
