Ouch! I don't know if you were around for 1995, but my favorites had never sniffed a championship until Jenkins hit the shot, well into my 30s. My other teams are the M's and the 76ers. I try not to let a single game or even a season get me down too much, but the most excruciating thing was when Adam Silver sent a freaking mole (Colangelo) in the FO to destroy what was a guaranteed 10 year dynasty. this really is not the game to judge a team or the coach on. they had a 3pt lead with .8 left and the ball. if McDermott gets his team to that point every game his record would be 99-1.

I saw a lot of good things from Creighton to get them in that position. great shooting and limited turnovers. Zegraowski continuing his solid play. Tyshon on the verge of becoming a true go-to guy. ballock, mintz and even joseph contributing. it took 53 pt effort from howard to beat them. there is a lot to build on here.

Plus Creighton had actually won the game, IMO. It's too much work to check, but I doubt there are 35 schools with more than 5 NCAAT bids the past 8 years. There are only 3 in the BE with Nova, Butler, and Xavier. I think Mac's a great coach who has weaknesses just like every other coach.

I was too young in 1995 to remember the World Series championship, and to be honest I'm not even sure if I was a fan at the time (I doubt it). My family moved to Atlanta around that same time. I became a big fan around 97-98 (70* and 62* home run season). I wasn't a fan of St. John's until recently when I attended for Grad School, and before that I was a fan of my undergrad team (High Point- never made the Tournament).

The only memory I have of one of my teams advancing in the playoffs was 1999- think the Braves played the Yankees in the World Series (but lost).

So yeah, 20 years lol.

As for Nova, that's gotta be a Hell of a feeling when you guys finally won. College basketball is a lot more difficult to win than professional sports, unless you're a blue blood. I think I am a bigger fan of college basketball for that reason. If you make it big time like Nova has, you can truly form a dynasty that lasts for decades. To be honest I don't follow the NBA much at all, but at least for the 76ers and other pro teams, you have the draft after bad seasons.

adoraz, I have been fortunate enough to live through both sides of the spectrum.

From a Nova perspective--- Graduated from Nova in 81 (like you--St. John's grad school in 83) and was a lifelong Nova fan from the first game I saw at the Palestra s a kid--- 1971 (team went to final against UCLA) vs Notre Dame (Austin Carr scored 37). Lived in Philly in 1985 and saw them play against Georgetown and lose a close one that year ---knew we had a shot in the Championship Game. Was up and down after that, but you are right, it was amazing in 2016 when that shot dropped. The last 5 years frankly have been ridiculous. Honestly, the 2018 team was so good, was not that surprised they won it all.

On the other side, I grew up a die hard Red Sox fan and lived through the Bucky "F******"" Dent days. Pure misery, best friends were all Yankee fans growing up! Obviously, they have turned it around and the last game I saw them live was when they beat the Yanks in Game 7 to complete that comeback in 2004. Follow less closely these days.

Novachap- it's funny, because even though I wasn't a Red Sox fan I did like them simply because they were bad for so long and also a rival to the Yankees. I obviously hated the Yankees, because they dominated during the late 90s and also beat the Braves in the World Series. However, after they won in 2004 (great comeback) I stopped caring. Now I dislike them because they're so good lol.

I'd say the best postseason game for me had to be Nova's win over UNC a few years back. I grew up in North Carolina, so seeing both UNC go down and Nova win was pretty sweet.

On one last note, I am also to a much lesser extent an Atlanta Falcons fan (though never been a die hard like for the Braves and Johnnies). Falcons have had a lot of success in getting to the playoffs, but obviously winning has been a completely different story lol (Super Bowl game where they led by 25).

More than 5. Only 3 BE teams.

And yeah, I think college Basketball is the toughest to win, having to win 6 straight elimination games. No matter how good Nova looks in a season, all I can hope for is to make the tournament healthy. More than anything I wish our players realize their dream of playing in the NBA.

Yeah it was unreal. Especially after all the agony. All the 3/4 OT losses- 4 of them- all at home! All the series blown up 3-1.

Who is your team? Would have thought being Seton Hall, you'd be a Devils fan.
