Do not intend to come off that way, I'll admit I'm biased because Seton Hall was getting some headlines and attention after that horrid call against us when it should have been the other way around. Things have changed since though and SJ won a huge game against a very tough Marquette team. I wouldn't say I got a stocking of coal yet, they just lost to DePaul and they have been down pretty big in basically every game so far, but they pulled rabbits out of their hats until last game. All I was trying to convey was that SHU while solid (solid is not bad), I don't think (though who knows?) this is a tourney team. I think I'm also still a bit annoyed since I was rooting HARD for Hall last year and even though they got a very tough draw in the tourney, they had the talent to win that game and didn't. Also, Willard hired Whitehead's coach to steal him from St. John's where he was going until the 11th hour. It's really those 3 things that have made me bitter lol. I guess I have to learn to let things go: 1) ref handed them game 2) losing too early last year in tourney and 3) the sleazy recruitment of Whitehead. You have to also remember that SHU is a direct rival of SJ, so why would I be kind to them once conference play starts? Saying that SJ has way more talent than SHU is objectively true without even being debatable. Doesn't mean we are great, but this is our time to shine. Hopefully we do for the greater good of the conference. SHU has had some success the past few years, I just want our time.

Of all your grievances Mayhem, the one about SHU “losing early” last year is the most curious. Giving KU all they could handle, in what was basically a home game for them, is not something I would consider a failure. They showed well last year in a really tough spot.

Well I still maintain that the ref's mistake didn't give us "the game" - it gave us a chance that it took good coaching and execution to take advantage of, but that's besides the point.

As frustrating as the slow starts are, I actually find it very encouraging to see that this Seton Hall team is never out of a game. There was a time not too long ago that a SHU team down 10-15 points early would have rolled over and gotten blown out, so it's really nice to see these guys have the fight to battle back and gives themselves a chance to perhaps catch a lucky break.

I don't expect you to like us or be nice to us, I would just like to see some credit given where it's due. The team that was picked to finish 8th in our league won an exempt tourney (beating a previously unbeaten ACC team in the final), beat Kentucky at MSG, and beat a Maryland team who's off to a 3-1 start in the B1G on the road. If that's the 8th best team in our league, we are in incredible shape.

I don't like SJU, but I think they're a top 15 team in the country right now - the OOC just hasn't allowed them to build up the resume to prove it yet. I think they're a coach and some depth away from being a true final four contender, but that doesn't mean they're not a great team. I also want to see them have success right now because A: I want this rivalry to grow to a point where it matters outside the metro area and B: I want this next generation of metro area recruits to grow up watching epic SHU-SJU battles at the Garden and think "I want to play in that game" rather than bolting off to Duke, Kentucky, wherever. Is it realistic? Maybe not, but to have even a remote chance, both programs need to sustain success at the same time.

To be fair, I should have given more credit for OOC wins and scheduling for SHU. Willard knocked the schedule out of the park. We scheduled almost all cupcakes. It was great seeing you guys take Kentucky down at MSG. I love how that is the home of the Big East and it was defended.

Agreed about MSG. I forget the actual record, but Big East schools have been stupid good there in OOC play over the past 3 or so years.

I know Nova absolutely loves playing in NYC. Last 5 years, 18-1 at MSG and 4-0 at Barclay's in Brooklyn. .957 winning %. OOC wins vs. UConn, Gonzaga, Michigan, Illinois, VCU, Stanford, Ga Tech.

Something that hasn't been mentioned yet - something potentially more damaging to Seton Hall's season than the loss to DePaul is the loss of Romaro Gill. He hasn't had a ton of minutes, but he's absolutely given the Hall quality minutes this year. His presence changed the game against Xavier in particular. He sprained his ankle in practice before the DePaul game and could we out a while. I'm not aware of any time table at the moment.

Well I know that's not true because Seton Hall alone's beaten Nova at MSG twice in that time frame ;) lol

It'll be true in about 2 months if you can survive another BET.

How long ago was that sterling Gibbs game winner? It feels like yesterday. Time flies

Edit: oh man I just looked it up on YouTube. It led me to a video of when Gibbs punches Arch in the face. Forgot about that. Was a nasty shot

Yeah that was a hair under 5 years ago. And there was a little bit of nastiness between the two teams the following year including that Gibbs punch/forearm to Arch's face and the Hart trip/stomp on Delgado.
