Nova is a great program and they'll be fine, but they lost way too much to still be a top 10 team after all that. That said, we need the other teams to step up. Marquette, St. John's, etc. and add UConn. Can't keep counting on Nova as good as they are. They are having the down year no one thought they would pre-season.

Penn came out fired up and ready to play in front of their home crowd, just as La Salle did 2 weeks ago. Neither of those 2 teams will play that good again this season. Philly media will play up how great the Big 5 is. But the Big 5 is a no-win situation for Nova and a risk-free gift for the other 4 teams. Where's the upside for us? Even on the road winning doesn't move the needle, and losing probably cost us 2 seedlines. If Jay wants to play on the road that badly, schedule with 2nd tier ACC, SEC, or B10 teams, 8th or 9th seed type of teams with great athletes that knocked us out of the tournament in the past. This is the worst local rivalry arrangement in college basketball.

The Big East teams only make the ESPN College Basketball front page when they lose...

No love for Seton Hall's upset or Marquette's this past weekend!

I think everyone thought they would struggle some early. Maybe not to this degree, but yeah- don't think anyone expected them to be this classic Nova team...… I mean, they might be a touch more down than folks expected...

Saturday now is a huge day with Nova/Kansas and Butler/Indiana. Really need a split in those 2 games. And Georgetown in a sneaky game with SMU and Seton Hall with Rutgers- 2 frankly close to must wins right now.

Yeah, saw that one coming a mile away. May be time for Nova to end the Big 5 arrangement, does nothing for them. Do they have control over that? Or is it a multi year thing?

I know they won 20 something in a row prior to tonight, but they'd be a lot better off playing nationally relevant teams. Or at least away games that aren't against mid major in city rivals. Maybe play 1 or 2 of the Philadelphia teams each year, but all 4 is too much.

Really, there's a reason none of us travel to in state mid majors (or any mid majors, for that matter). I understand Big 5 is tradition, but that type of a scheduling arrangement works against them.

Anyways, the Big East certainly looks wide open this year. I don't like seeing Nova lose, but I'm glad they won't be dominate for once. I could honestly see like 80% of the teams winning it lol.

Someone's still smarting from the Nebraska game. Penn played better tonight, if we played towards the end of the year(heck maybe even tomorrow tonight) Nova wins by 8-10. This year is going to be full of ups and downs, we'll probably lose 8-10 games, but the pieces are still there for a dangerous team in March.

It'd be nice to see the streak reach 30, but I wouldn't be so sure if Nova's a better team next year to start the season. The excuse is that we're young right now, but we'll be even younger in 2019.

Slater and Quinerly must be horrendous in practice to not even sniff the court with our foul troubles. Unbelievable...

Younger, but more experienced and talented. Only Paschall and Booth played major roles last year for Nova. By that, I mean those 2 were the only ones trusted to play and produce in extremely meaningful and clutch games/situations consistently at Nova. Next year CG, DCR, Samuels, Bey, and Swider will be back with major experience. JQ and Slater will have a year under their belt in the system, plus a top 5 recruiting class coming in. We'll be more than fine, hell by the end of this year I think we'll be dangerous. Just have to correct fixable mistakes, blown defensive assignments, turnovers, poor shot selection, etc. Talent isn't the issue.

the problem if you will with that is if they lose 8-10 games, they're going to be only a 7-10 seed. With a brutal 2nd round game. kind of where several Big East teams have been in recent years.
