Nova has to find a way to reduce the number of Big 5 games from 4. It's a no-win situation preserved just for the sake of keeping an archaic tradition. It'd be like Xavier signing up for 4 games a season arrangement with UD, Miami (OH), Youngstown, and Toledo, all true H&H series and never ending. I wonder if Nova even gets proper credit for winning at the Palestra, which is a true road venue. But what the f--- is the point of playing a #339 NET ranking opponent on the road. Lose this game to Penn and it's a disaster. Win and it probably ends up a tier 3 road win.

Penn is #117 in KenPom. Whatever their NET rating is won't be over 300 by year end.

Hard to complain about the Big 5 when we've won 25 straight and been gifted two true road wins per year while commuting about 25 minutes per. The Big 5 is not an issue.

LaSalle is #339. Penn's just outside 100 atm, but I wouldn't bet on them not ending up in tier 3 territory. You forgot to mention playing these tier 3 teams on the road is leaving money on the table, and really even Fox is losing out on inventory.

Penn right now is #102 in NET. Very possible this is a tier 2 win(Top 135 necessary for that) And I would say that it's possible depending on how well Penn does later in the season- that this could get into tier 1 range.

I think based on what we saw last week with Jay Wright's comments about Dunphy that he's a big Big 5 fan.

I know one thing for sure, I would be getting hammered right now if I called this conference the Big Rast.....

At least if you're going to make that mistake- make it the Big Raft.

is it me, or do you bring this up every year?

sounds like a broken record!

Villanova is doing just fine with their Big 5 traditions. Traditions have value and build excitement in the city. Don't throw it all away man!

This is what makes college basketball great. Does Villanova get less home games as a result? Yea, that's true. But I think the Philly Big 5 is something special. I wish we had something like that in NYC!

Pretty sure it's several times a year... :)

It can be special and not be 4 games a year! Honestly, listening to OG Big5 fans, the magic of the Big 5 games decades ago is pretty much nonexistent now anyway...
