Mods, can we do something about stupid posts like this? It really hurts the discussion and makes the board unreadable.

This is getting absolutely out of control.

This is how we need to post for things not to get derailed:

Wow!* Xavier is off to an excellent* start*, currently* top 10* in the country!

But, the thing is:
*Mack at Louisville is now recruiting players ranked 44-60.
*Mack got several players ranked top 50 while at Xavier.
*Mack's recruiting in 2018 is irrelevant.
*Steele has not yet gotten any top 50 players.
*No, that 2020 player who is on multiple top 50 lists isn't relevant. No chance at breaking into the 247 Composite top 50 once more lists are out or the years progress.
*Xavier has no chance at remaining top 10 later in the season, so actually the initial statement is false and should be deleted. (Breaking character here, but contrary to the BS Stever posted I've always agreed they most likely won't stay top 10. As usual he's completely missing the point. Even if they finish top 25 that's still excellent.)
*Actually, the initial statement was wrong. I don't think Xavier's recruiting is very good at all. Mack was a huge loss.

Absolutely none of this is an exaggeration. I wish some of Stever's posts could just not be posted, since the mods look at them prior to them going live. I understand that's a monumental task for the mods given how many essays he writes on here, but far too many are absolute nonsense and hurt discussion. Imagine how the guests feel reading this BS? No other message boards I post on are like this.

Hopefully this doesn't come off as overly defensive, but we definitely don't approve every stever post. Trust me, wading through them is extremely tedious.

Just my $0.02 regarding Stever and possible censoring. Not sure if it was my Father or Grandfather who told me this once: "let a fool speak his mind for all to hear," as opposed to stopping him from being heard. Great advice in this age of blogs, tweets and posts.

He does get frustrating... and his points are often ridiculous with no basis in fact or actual data...and don't get me started on how he moves the goalposts in just about every debate...and why he loves the AAC is beyond me--I mean most fans of those schools don't even believe in the AAC...and who cares what he says on some other sad site in which he just talks to himself.

But I am against summarily stunting a free exchange of ideas. So BJack, Jet and Hoya, I appreciate the job you guys do for making this a great site. Do what you must but I wouldn't ban the guy unless/until his trolling goes way over the line. The way I see it, the guy is consistently proven wrong at every turn, and we point that out, but he still keeps coming back for more. That should stand for something...

I can't speak for anyone else, but my position is that off season discussion threads are given a little more latitude. With the regular season upon us, I intend to restrict some of the trolling and off topic posts that detract from the discussion of Big East hoops.

100% on board. I was planning on focusing on making sure any new posters get reviewed in a timely manner over the next week or so, and possibly taking a bit of a stever respite.

It's cool, understood. My post was more meant to be frustration over Stever rather than a critique of the mods.

I don't think Stever should be censored for his initial posts, however, I do think he should be censored as soon as he repeats the same exact talking points over and over again. It just becomes unreadable, and repetitiveness is not good for anyone.

Mods should not have to approve every post a poster makes. One poster should not demand more time, energy and effort than the rest of the forum combined - especially one that rocks the boat as often as this one does.

In addition to Stever, there's the newer troll ProprietyofLeyluken. He was an obvious troll going back to the Summer, but wasn't off the charts obnoxious. But he or she became emboldened and completely outed himself/herself last week. Anyway, we're doing our best to monitor things.

Seton Hall finally got in on the 2019 recruiting game! They already had 4* FSU transfer Ike Obiagu on board for 2019, but in the past 24 hours they received commitments from 3* guard Dashawn Davis and 4* top 100 forward Tyrese Samuel. Not a bad way to follow up wining the Wooden Legacy Tournament!
