Two Big East games on Monday night...

Monday November 12th 2018:

Detroit Mercy at Butler, 6:30pm.
Morgan State at DePaul, 8:30pm.

Always fun watching games from Hinkle, and Wintrust is growing on me too.
Looking forward to checking out Butler.
And DePaul is cool, with their "Run-PMC" offense... PAUL Reed, MATT Strus, and Eli CAIN.
Good luck.

Unlike the weekend games, these two are against bad opponents (300+ KenPom). Hopefully 2 wins.

Also, after seeing how the NCAA has unfolded the past week, I don't think NET margin of victory will matter for leagues as a whole. For some individual teams it will (in either positive or negative ways), but there's so many heavily favored teams that flat out lose (by 10+ points, too) for any of us to care about margins.

10+ point wins would be nice, but winning by that margin will never be "crucial" for the Big East. Just win and move on. Margin of victory/loss within a ~130 game sample is nearly statistically insignificant.

Detroit/Butler could be a live one tonight. Detroit is coached by Mike Davis, yes that Mike Davis. Just moved from Texas Southern.... His son is best player on team- was a 3 star recruit originally scheduled to go to Houston. He's got 1st 2 games vs Western Michigan and Temple 62 points and a cool 12-27 from 3 point range.

they might be the best Ken Pom ranked 329 team ever.

You should bet on the game then, given that Butler is favored by 26 points.

I feel like you're just hyping them up because Temple beat them.

well given that Butler allowed in 1st game 12-33 from 3 point range and Detroit has gone 20-58 in 1st 2 games- I think Detroit could keep this closer than one would think.

And I didn't/don't think many realize that Mike Davis is coaching Detroit now.

I'd be surprised if Butler wins by 26. That's a lot in any game against a mid-major. Not sure if it will matter, but this used to be a pretty good rivalry.

It wasn't too many years ago that Butler, Xavier, Detroit Mercy, and Evansville were all competitive with each other year to year. Now those are buy-in games for us. Joining the BE was the best thing that ever happened to Butler and Xavier.

Wait... who is Mike Davis?

I only know two athletes named Mike Davis:
1. Obscure U of Illinois small forward from a couple of years ago.
2. Outfielder from the 80's who played for the A's and Dodgers... he actually walked with 2 out and scored on Kirk Gibson's HR in 88.

Is there a third Mike Davis?
Ok... the coach who replaced Bobby Knight at IU.

Gee Billyjack, you must be a plastic surgeon? Instinctively good at opening up old wounds. I wince every time that A's-Dodgers World Series clip is shown. Lifelong A's fan here. Used to be an all Bay Area diehard. Fortunately I have pared down my sports to Creighton basketball.
