That's all well and good for football, yes it drives $$ bus. But, jesus, temple lost to nova and uconn is a train wreck. AAC is years away, if ever from truly competing with the big guys in football. UCF cant get into the playoff and they were good last year.
In hoops, its worse. As said above.. 1 sweet 16 in the time the BE has 2 NC and multiple wins. Maybe they are heading in the right direction with Hurley and then temple next year. Yes, penny can recruit, but can he coach? Witchita State clearly imploded last year and will be fair this year. Its a 2-3 bid team tops. BE in a ebuilding year will at least double that.

It was Louisville's last season in the Big East, but who cares it doesn't count lol. It's probably safe to say uconn won with mostly Big East players.

AAC won the natty out of the gate.
Where people get tripped up is when they say UConn won with old big east players. UConn won with UConn guys. UConn is in on guys, and has guys committed right now, who can play anywhere. The issue with UConn was retaining the 2016 recruiting class with Enoch, Jackson, and Durham, which was Top 8. Those guys left because of all the coaching drama that year.
The McD AA from that 16 class, Alterique Gilbert, was a nice present for Dan Hurley. Combined with the guys they are recruiting this year, the Huskies will be ok. The 19 class will most likely be on par with UConns classes historically.
Believe me, I think its great to be hype about a strong start as a conference.
Nobody is taking anything away from that. Nevertheless, the AAC chose a different model to build with. They chose to build programs. The next 5 years will be more telling than the first 5 now that everyone on both sides of the fence has their coaches in place.
