They still have Villanova for two upcoming matchups, but finish with Arizona this year.

I read it as just getting 10 or so ex-oBE teams together for one day event, not a tournament. I know there are similar events like CBS classic, champions classic, crossroads, etc, but not aware of one involving more than 4 schools.

With the Big East and Big 12 getting a scheduling alliance, and the AAC being locked out of a major scheduling alliance, UConn needs to be creative in how it can foster a strong OOC schedule, especially with the awful bottom of the AAC that they will need to be playing each year.
I'm not shocked at all that Benedict is having ongoing discussions with Big East contacts. This is just another example of smoke regarding UConn and the Big East. UConn Athletics is really backed into a corner. They will be back in the Big East by our next TV deal, which will give them more money for Olympic sports, give the Big East more annual payouts to each of its membership and give the Big East more exposure, viewership and attendance figures long-term.
