I wonder what if anything the Big East got in return for Michigan St not participating in the challenge.

Yeah this is pretty exciting. It was cool having Georgetown vs Maryland in prior years, but that aside, this is an excellent line up. Being able to market this as a national title rematch is huge. Xavier vs Wisconsin is also a must see game.

As a SJU fan, I'm okay with Rutgers, but we really need to win that game. Would've preferred a more challenging opponent, but Rutgers I think should be decent and are regional.

Big East is pretty much the metropolitan little brother of the Big Ten.

Xavier (Cincinnati) vs Ohio State (Columbus)
Butler (Indianapolis) vs Indiana (Bloomington)
Creighton (Omaha) vs Nebraska (Lincoln)
Marquette (Milwaukee) vs Wisconsin (Madison)
DePaul (Chicago) vs Illinois (Champaign)
Georgetown (D.C) vs Maryland (College Park)
Villanova (Philly) vs Penn State (State College)
St. Johns (NYC), Seton Hall (South Orange) vs Rutgers (New Brunswick)

Catholic schools have a history in downtown metropolitan areas whereas state schools need the space and land to accommodate their large student sizes

Well, the little brother may not make as much money a big brother, but big brother hasn't won a national championship since 2000.

No doubt. Was just pointing out how ideally these rivalries set up. We want to play the big state schools and the big state schools want to play in our cities. Works out nicely.
