Think Jay is casting a wide net. He has in the past zeroed in on 2 recruits (Newton vs Booth) and takes the first one that commits.

For 2019, definitely gone will be:

Booth
Paschall
Cremo

in theory could be back but practically they are already gone:
Donte
Spellman

Imo, replacing spellman is key. Stewart would be great, but not sure we have a chance.

Hear we are very serious with Lewis (in his final 5). Anthony or Antoine would be great gets, but again, lots of competition.
Not sure Wong and Lecque are really priorities, but who knows.

I think Mannion is very interesting and hope he comes to nova, need another ginger italian!

Gumby, what do you think?

Heading into the Class of 2019, Villanova is involved for a number of elite players, several of whom could be one-and-done candidates. That group includes guards Bryan Antoine, who trimmed his list to five on Thursday, Scottie Lewis, Cole Anthony, Jalen Lecque, Isaiah Wong, Josh Green and Nico Mannion, who is looking to reclassify to 2019 from 2020. Villanova is also involved for 2019 bigs Isaiah Stewart and Aidan Igiehon, among others.

Nine recruits... How many open spots for 2019 and which ones is Jay serious about?

"hit the lottery" to me sounds like one of Lewis, Antoine, or Anthony. Others are players Nova have been able to get.

Chap, I’m in the minority of Nova Nation to think that Jay will not pursue Antoine and Lewis to commitment(s). Those guys seem to want the world, and I’m not sure Jay is ready to promise it. They seem to have UK/Duke written all over them. Anyway we have the following wings In 2019-20: Samuels, Swider, Slater, Moore. All top 50 kids. Not sure a wing OAD even fits.

My gut: hard press on Stewart, especially if Vernon Carey commits to Duke and Stewart is looking for another spot. I’m intrigued by Mannion. I’d take him because he can play multiple positions and the program def needs another stud Italian ginger :D.

Either way, as a fan I am done critiquing any recruiting decisions. He staff has done a masterful job ID’ing talent and more importantly developing talent.

You know it is interesting... I thought Jay made a big mistake not taking the Lamar Stevens commitment. He took Paschall instead. Worked out for Penn St and def worked out for Nova. Seth Lundy seems to be a lot like Stevens. Wants Nova but we chose Dixon first. Staff seems laser focused on the players that fit our style. I hope we stick to the 3-4 yr players over the OAD’s unless it is a single can’t-miss player here or there to fill a specific need.

Here's hoping that Donte and Eric return - so u can give Cremo back to Creighton. ;)

The Jays have only had 2 5-star players historically. I am loving our newfound habit of stocking up on 4-star guys. It should start paying dividends this season. Many Jays fans want a midmajor grad transfer as a security blanket. We may get 1 but I'd rather have the Canadian big we're looking at. ;)

Elias King 6'7" SF from Georgia just committed to X. #60 overall 247. And the beat rolls on for what is surely to be the best recruiting class ever in the Big East

Since Mack left, I'm honestly happy that Xavier didn't advance far in the Tournament. Would be a bad look if Xavier made the Finals for example and then lost Mack. Seems like the new coach is picking up right where things left off.

For 247 Composite, the Big East is now second for 4/5 star recruits (currently the Top 151):

Rankings:
1. Pac 12: 7 (1 five star, 6 four stars)
2. Big East: 5 (5 four stars)
3. SEC: 4 (2 five stars, 2 four stars)
4. ACC: 4 (4 four stars)
5. Big Ten: 3 (1 five star, 2 four stars)
6. Mid Majors: 3 (3 four stars- 2 Gonzaga, 1 Memphis)
7. Big 12: 2 (2 four stars)

The Big East also has the following teams listed in the team rankings:
5. Nova
7. Xavier
8. Butler

Incoming rant about how 5 stars commit late and don't commit to the Big East lol...

Anyways, I doubt we finish 2nd, but we should be set up for a nice year once again.
