Sorry if previously discussed. The Big10 final only drew 15K. Yikes

Not AAC level (8K fans in 20K seat arena), but that's bad for a Championship game. Guess other teams wanted to get a head start back home to the Midwest.

Agreed. One of these years one of our teams has got to do SOMETHING in the tourney.

Please...for the love of all things holy...could a Big East team PLEASE make a run soon so that Stever can quit talking about March. Wait. What year is this? Oh, that's right. It's 2018.

In the last 2 years, I believe the Big East is 15-11 in the NCAAT, with a 3 sweet sixteens, 2 elite 8s, a final four and a natty. The 3 sweet sixteens were by three different teams.

Stever, your proclamations, predictions, and analyses are not good. To wit: On December 1, you "were not ready to count UCONN out" and stated SMU and Temple "should get in pretty easily." I think you noted Temple's strength of schedule. And further bragged that your conference got a "whole hell of a lot stronger" this year vs. last year. Great. Last year you got 2 in the tournament. This year, 3, because you added Wichita.

Apparently, you have no self consciousness because anyone that is so wrong, so often might just spend less time trying so hard to be wrong. But not you, baby.

Ahh yes, the mythological Old Big East. UConn was the only thing keeping it from being inarguably the worst Power conference in March since the 90's. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_N ... rticipants

So last year the league did well in the tourney? They were supposed to go 7-5 plus then Nova in the Final Four, and Providence in the first four..... So worst case 7-7. How did the league go? 6-7. The Old Big East stepped up most every single year. The New Big East in 1st 4 years just hasn't. In only one of the 4 years has the league finished the NCAA tourney with a league record over .500. Before that- the last time the Big East finished sub .500 in the tourney was in 2001- aka the dark ages of the Big East. If you think what the Big East has done in March is good, you don't have a clue what being good in March is all about.

Injuries totally derailed SMU. Temple was 1 to at most only 2 games away from an NCAA tourney bid- because they struggled in conference play. Even with only getting 3 in- after last year getting the AAC only 2 6's, this year the conference got a 2,4,6 bid. MUCH stronger. You act like the only measure of the conference is getting teams in the tourney. No, it's also just as much about getting teams far in the tourney.

Other intangibles that are important, last 2 years:

2017: Xavier crushed ACC #3 Florida State by 28 or so, then bounced Arizona.

2016: Villanova beat Oklahoma by 44 in the Final Four, plus Kansas, Miami of Fla by 25, Iowa by 25.

Much different than in past years, like with Notre Dame d-cking around with Northeastern, or Syracuse beating a bunch of 13 seeds to advance.

We are all aware of the NBE's shortcomings in March. You are arguing against nobody. Just so we are all aware, this is a Georgetown fan complaining about our March accomplishments.

Savannah Jay was doing just that, saying that the league is fine in March. Sorry but I don't think so.

Until the NBE can perform consistently to expectations in March, it won't be back to it's old days.

Context:
1). The Big10, widely regarded as one of the top conferences, has not won a NC in 18 years.
2). The Pac12, the so called "conference of champions," has not won the NC in 21 years.
3). The Big 12 has won exactly 1 NC in the last 30 years.

We all know that the ACC, and the former BE, were absolute juggernauts. Over the past 20 years the BE conference won 6 NC, the ACC won 7 and the SEC won 4. So 17 of 20 have come out of 3 conferences. L'ville won one as part of Conf USA, UConn as part of AAC and Kansas in the B12.

This is not the old BE. There are only 10 teams, not 14 or 15. That makes a big difference. But we've done something that 3 other power conferences have not done for decades. I think we do OK.

What NC did Louisville win as part of CUSA in the past 20 years? They did win one as a member of the Big East, giving the BE not 6, but 7 NC in the past 20 years.

What is it that we in the current BE have done that 3 other power conferences have not done in decades. I’m sorry, but I’m confused.

Eh as a SJU fan this is really the first year I don't REALLY care about how the Big East does in March. I will be rooting for all BE teams of course and would love to see them win. I also definitely don't want to see an embarrassing showing. To be clear, a poor showing means getting like 3 wins total. Not Stever's overreaction to getting 6 wins rather than the expected 7.

Why don't I care? Simple, the Big East is in a fantastic place right now and way ahead of schedule. We have a national championship, continuously set (new) BET records in attendance and on TV, outperformed the B1G at MSG, recruiting is excellent, and most teams keep performing well year after year. So again, as long as it isn't a BAD tournament I'm good. Nova's title was massive in changing perception, and Xavier helped a bit by following up with the E8 last year.

I am concerned about the Johnnies and know next year is critical. But the BE? Nah.

Good luck to the 6 schools though. Will be rooting for you all.
