Xavier's Blue has changed drastically over the years. We used to use light blue exclusively. Then in the 80s went various shades of light blue and royal together. 15 years or so it started getting darker and now we use navy and grey as a third color.

Good point about the A-10 and the three Rams (URI, VCU, Fordham) at least we escaped that.

Great look for the Friars. Totally look like old school bad-ass football (though they're not high tops?). I bet we're gonna set a trend and we'll see others follow the Unitas style. Always loved our black and white. Added gold trim in early 80's but glad it was dropped. Never liked other teams using black alternates, especially against us. (the last 2 guys in the NFL that I remember wearing high tops were Kenny King on Oakland and Ken Margerum on the Bears-- Margerum said he wore them because it made him appear slower, so he could blow by defenders)

In the late 70's, the only black-white and black-silver uniformed teams were Providence b&w, the Oakland Raiders b&s, the White Sox b&w and the Spurs b&s. I think the LA Kings when they got Gretzky in the early 90's switched to black from their purple-yellow Laker colors... then a ton of other teams followed that look.

Thanks for posting friarj...!

Dayton would make a nice addition, as we could revert to its traditional Columbia Blue, which contrasts nicely to the darker blues used by most of the other Catholic schools (and Butler)...

...just sayin'...

We should be called the Blue East.

I can only speak for the two schools I cheer for but here is the explanation and why they cannot be changed.

Georgetown: School colors are from the Civil War. Union Blue and Confederate Gray. It was suppose to signify the unification of the two forces. The school pre-dates the Civil War.
DePaul: They are the "Blue Demons." Unless they want to change to the "Green Gremlins" or "Violet Villains" they are stuck with Blue as a primary color.

Well, Creighton is the "Bluejays", so change might be a little difficult for us as well...

That's pretty interesting. I'm too lazy to research, but is that fact or legend? Did they have different colors pre-Civil War?
