DePaul last played at Alumni Hall (now on Joe Mullaney Court) on the PC campus on Thursday February 25, 1971, with Ray Meyer and Dave Gavitt on opposing benches.

The Friars won 74 to 64, improving to 16-6 on their way to an NIT bid, where they beat Louisville before losing to UNC. The Friars roster included senior Jim Larranaga, and sophs Ernie D and Nehru King. Marvin was on the freshman team.

PC finished 20-8 in 1971.

Saw a very obscure piece of NBA trivia...

For only the 3rd time in Clippers franchise history, two of their players on Opening Night scored 25+ points each. The first time it happened was 1974, with Bob McAdoo and Ernie D for the Buffalo Braves... kinda a weird obscure fact.
