So that equates to 3... maybe 4 NCAA tournament teams this year? That’s quite a step backward.

Oh come on, you know preseason polls are practically meaningless. We'll have at least 5 without a problem.

No, 5 teams in the top 41 equates to 5 teams in the NCAA tournament. Possibly more depending on teams #44-50 (AP cuts off at #43), but 5 solidly in.

Surprised but Not surprised. The #4 conference is the country gets 2 teams in the top 25, #5 gets 3 (SEC) and #6 gets 1 (PAC12.
Me thinks the B1G is just a tad overrated with 7 teams in, particularly after how a few of them were NR at the end of the season.

Oh well, AP writers bias, I suppose. Gary Parrish calling them out every year seems to have no effect on their voting?

I agree that the Big Ten is getting a lot of preseason hype. Ohio State in the top 25 is surprising. Their starting five is suspect, and transfer star Seth Towns hasn't played in two year. He is also not fully practising due to injury.
