Sorry to hear of the passing of baseball legend Bob Gibson, Creighton alum. Would be great if Jays fans could share thoughts and stories about him.

I caught the very end of his career. He and a bunch of absolute legends retired between 73 and 76... so fortunate that i have some first-hand memories of them... Gibson, Mays, Aaron, Frank Robinson... and Killebrew, Marichal, Kaline...

Before my time, but New Englanders remember Gibson for the 67 World Series vs the Red Sox... went 3-0 with 3 complete games, including Game 7, a 7-2 win at Fenway where he also homered over the Green Monster. Wow!

Played before my time but he was my dads absolute favorite athlete of all time. Probably the most competitive guy to ever play the game.

Of all the jaw-dropping stats about Gibson's 1968, this is my favorite: he was never removed for another pitcher. Not once, all year. Including the World Series, he made 37 starts. He completed 31 of them. The other six, he was removed for a pinch-hitter.

Just an Omaha legend who lived A quiet life with his family in Omaha after his baseball career ended. He changed the game of baseball by making them lower the mound... had the lowest era because of sheer intimidation of batters. Badass... on the court or field he was mean as all hell. I was after his time but the stories are great, one of my favorites is my signature! And Bob Gibson is my avatar, that’s him at Creighton.

Bob lived a very private life by choice. It’s too bad creighton couldn’t have enhanced his connection to the school over the years. RIP Gibby.
