Gtmo's media empire kind of took over the original preview thread.

PC comes in at 46 and 5th in the BE, projected as an NCAA team:

We're always underestimated pre-season though. I think this is about average in terms of how we end up performing (5 teams in, a couple on the bubble, and likely 2-3 top 25 teams with 1 of them being a #1/#2 seed).

What's nice about this projection is that all 11 teams are within the top 100. That means any of the lower half 11 teams could slightly overperform and the make the Dance. Basically what happened last year where 9/10 teams (maybe 10/11 including UConn?) had NCAA Tournament caliber resumes by conference play. I'm definitely not expecting a repeat of that because it's insanely hard to do (we were the #1 conference in NET), but I think we'll get 5/6 in and that'd be a pretty standard year for us. 2021 and 2022 is where things should get really interesting with our recruiting class.

Perhaps. We’ll see. But it does make last year sting even more knowing the ncaa seeds the league might have had.

NCAA Tournament – Quantitative Reference Thread – Post #31

Bottom Line: The ten-team averages of 2.4 Big East teams in AP Top 25 Poll per year and 5.4 Big East teams in the NCAA Tournament per year have become the de facto benchmarks for the 10-team Big East Conference.

Big East Benchmarks for the 2020-21 Season and Beyond:

If UConn is assumed to be a statistically average Big East team, the new benchmarks for the 11-team conference will be as follows:

Average number of Big East teams in the AP Top 25 Poll = (11/10)(17 teams/7 years) = 2.67 teams per year.

Average number of Big East teams in the NCAA Tournament = (11/10)(38 teams/7 years) = 5.97 teams per year.

No – you’re not.

CSM correctly predicted that six Big East teams would be invited to the 2019-20 NCAA Tournament.

CSM is again predicting that six Big East teams will be invited to the 2020-21 NCAA Tournament. See Benchmarks above.

Seton Hall at 37 and 3rd in the BE:

In all, this may not be a group that can win another Big East title, but they can continue their streak of NCAA Tournament appearances and at least give themselves an opportunity to make the weekend.
