huge game for Marquette to try to avoid falling to the 8/9 line which is frankly where with how they've performed this season where they belong. They are the underachieving power conference team who wins enough to get in but gets stuck in the 8/9 seed lines.

I am trying not to sound like a huge DBag here, but I apologize because I know I will, but I just can't get excited about DePaul. I just can't. For too long they have been a doormat, and their early season success this year was quickly wiped out once Big East play began. If Leitao doesn't get fired at the end of the season, it is really going to be discouraging, and will really say a lot about how seriously DePaul is taking this. I am rooting for Marquette to steamroll them. DePaul is going nowhere in the postseason and I don't want to see them hurt Marquette's seed in the dance.

DePaul fans, this isn't anything personal, I would be very happy for you guys if DePaul ever turned it around, but it's been hard to watch.

I don't think you are being a d-bag about this at all. And I agree that it isn't about being a personal thing against DePaul fans. Very much to the point, at least as I understand it, this has everything to do with DePaul leadership recognizing that it has an inept athletic director in place. Fix that issue to get the overall business end in order and then get a coach that can take advantage of recruiting in and to the country's third largest city, taking advantage of a very nice, new facility as part of that process.

Leitao may be a nice guy. I don't know. But he certainly isn't the long-term answer for DePaul.

DePaul is going to stay being a dumpster fire until they get rid of their AD/HC.

I follow @CoachingChanges on Twitter and they are indicating that those moves will be made in the off season. I tend to doubt it.

Dave Leitao's contract is up at the end of the season.

I'd say there's probably a 95% chance he'll be let go.

No idea which direction they would head in at that point, however.

Beilein will have better opportunities available to him than DePaul. And if Smart is let go by Texas, he probably will, too.

Besides, I'm not sure DePaul has the cash to pay either at the moment. The school just announced a $14 million budget shortfall this past year, and has already told the staff that they won't be getting raises this year. If they then go out and spend $5 million on a basketball coach, there might be riots.

I think it's far more likely that they'll take a look at either mid-major head coaches, or high major assistants.

Porter Moser's name has been thrown around, and he makes some sense. He talked to St. John's, so the idea of coaching at a higher level has to have crossed his mind. Maybe if it's a similar job where he doesn't have to uproot his whole family, he takes the plunge.

If they go the high major assistant coach route, Dwayne Stephens at Michigan State is a guy I happen to like.

If the same leadership who brought Wainwright, Purnell and Leitao on-board are overseeing yet another search, there would be less-than-zero confidence in that hire being successful as well.

Goodman took a wild stab a few days ago at the upcoming coaching carousel: https://watchstadium.com/college-basketball-coaching-carousel-cheat-sheet-for-2020-02-27-2020/

I'd say go after the only guy that can challenge Jay Wright as the best coach in the conference (Rick Pitino).
