We May Get 7

I think it is pretty safe to say that Seton Hall, Creighton, Nova, Butler and Marquette are in the field. I also think it is pretty clear that DePaul, St. John's and to a lesser extent Georgetown are out (unless there is a BE tournament run). The question is does Providence and Xavier get in, and I think they do looking at their schedules. Providence has three games left. If they go 2-1 I think they are in. As to Xavier, they have 4 games left and I think a 2-2 split puts them in as well. Will be interesting to see how this plays out.

They play each other.. So have to look at what happens if they lose that game-
Providence- would have to beat both Nova and DePaul- or win a QF BET game
Xavier- would have to go 2-1 vs DePaul, @ Georgetown, and Butler. If only go 1-2, would have to win probably not only Wed. night game in BET, but also quite probably Thursday as well.

Xavier would seem to be safe. Providence would be in a tough place.

Georgetown is almost certainly out. They would need to go 2-2 to enter the BET at 17-14 having played last 4 games @ Marquette, Xavier, @ Creighton, and Villanova. And then probably need to not only win on Wednesday night, but also quite frankly on Thursday vs 1 or 2 seed.

Or 8. Johnnies finish with 4 straight to 25 wins to get back in the mix!

At this point 7 would be the best bet assuming XU and PC take care of business.

I think a lot will hinge on the head to head game.
6- if Xavier beats Providence
7- if Providence beats Xavier

just based on the remaining schedules.... Providence would need to beat either Villanova or someone in the 4/5 game in the BET.

Now, if Xavier loses tonight to DePaul- it may be 6 either way.

I hadn't realized that 6 out of 10 committee members represent mid-major conferences. Both A10 and PAC12 are represented... could be a factor if things get tight in the last 4 out/first 4 in territory.

this week's shootaround was pretty good.

it's interesting that all of our teams have such better SOS's than the big ten even though it's arguably the stronger conference. the round robin has really helped the league rack up Q1 wins

fanta's blind resume segment is a must watch

If Xavier can win today, I think the conference is almost assured of 7 bids. It would take X or Providence to lose 3 straight (only one of them can lose 3 straight because they play each other) and an extremely unfavorable set of results by other bubble teams.
