I think this is the year we'll finally know if Jay is a lifer at Villanova. Jay has had many chances to leave the Main Line, and has turned them all down, but I think this is the year that will be his toughest decision. The Sixers have been a disappointment this year, and barring an unexpected playoff run, I expect Brett Brown to be sent packing. Unlike past years when the Sixers were an ugly train wreck, Jay would be taking over one of the better rosters in the NBA. As a big Sixer fan, I'd prefer that they win with Brown, with Jay staying put, but if Jay is ever going to leave, going to the Sixers is the one move that won't totally kill me.

Jay is gonna have a really good, national championship type team at nova next year, imo. That’ll make for an interesting decision

Yeah, if the Sixers go that route, they're going to have to throw a pile of cash at Jay. Also probably have to give him roster control as well, because as great(or really good) as Embiid and Simmons are, they just plain don't fit together. They fubar any type of modern spacing up, and spacing is Jay game.

Why would he want to leave? He’s arguably the best coach in the game right now.

Coaching also just doesn’t matter as much in the nba. I think it’s be a shame to see him leave. Just look at billy Donovan and John beiline. Beiline is having a hell of a time and Donovan hasn’t done anything either. You have way less roster control and are way less important to success. Just my opinion but I would think that isn’t appealing. Nova should throw him a big old raise just to be sure though

Guys as successful as Jay sometimes will want to test themselves at the highest level. The fact that he won't need to uproot his family will be a plus. Right now I'd place Jay behind Knight, Rupp, and Calhoun in the pantheon of great coaches. An NBA title puts him on the Mt. Rushmore, along with Auerbach, Jackson, and Wooden. Might be enough to entice him.

No one is wishing for Jay to leave (except maybe some of the fans of the teams Nova has dogged for the last 6 years
) That said, if you don't think this will at least become a possibility if Brown gets the boot, I don't know what to say. You're not in a serious NBA area, so it doesn't surprise me that you'd pooh-pooh the allure of the NBA.

At this point in the season, Jay has a lot more pressing issues, than whether to accept a pro offer. This is a tough stretch in his season.
I'm a college basketball guy. There's only the National team down here - pros in Colombia and Venezuela.
You're correct, if JW were to leave the other 9 teams in the BE would declare a national holiday, of sorts.
Good luck to him, regardless of the outcome.
