MH v MP... If there was ever an award that deserved the coaches to collude to split it evenly 5-5 in order to to share the award, this is it. Maybe the two best players to ever don each school’s jersey (with respect to DWade). 1st team AA’s. 2k+ scores. I think whichever team finishes higher in the standings might win it,

I think Powell is better because he gets his team involved more and is less about hero ball.

I vote for Myles F. Powell, and it's not close.

No stats to back this up, just my gut. MH gets me through the bulk of a game but MP is my finisher.

Since the BE only gives out a POY award I'll go with Powell for that moniker. BUT, if there was an award given for MVP, Howard would win by miles (see what I did there)...if taken literally.

I too would probably vote for Powell--but more because SHU is in first place. But to those who say: "it isn't even close," are seriously undervaluing M Howard.
Here are the stats for just BE games so far...
MH --- MP
Pts
31.6 --- 24.5
FG%
40.9% --- 43.2%
3FG%
36.1% --- 29.6%
A
2.3 --- 2.5
R
4.3 --- 6.3
FT%
89.4% --- 78.4%
Player Efficiency Ratings (all games)
32.96 (1st BE / 9th nationally) --- 27.69 (5th in BE / 55th nationally)
The initial point I was tryuing to make is when you have (2) 1st Team AA's in the league, who both are putting up HUGE numbers, it may be difficult to differentiate (outide of team W & L's). I would say that Myles without question has a much better supporting cast than Markus.

37.2% usage for Powell vs 41% for Howard. Is 4% usage and .3 more APG really statistically significant enough to say "Powell is so much better at involving his teammates" I personally don't think so. I think the mind sees what it wants and when you see numbers like Howard's you're instinctively assuming it's all ball hog hero ball vs Powell who has been admittedly consistent and great but rarely getting games in the 30s let alone 40s and 50s so you assume "he's much better at involving his team"
This usage for entire season in using sports reference and don't have a KPom subscription to see the conference numbers.

Last season, I thought Howard was the more deserving of the two by far. This year, I think it's Powell by about the same margin. Powell is not only playing at an extremely high level, he is leading his team, putting them on his back when needed, and closing out games. I thought last season he was playing great but not impacting the games as much. This year, he is playing great and impacting the games. If the awards were to be given today, Powell would get my vote.

Can't just dismiss that Powell was injured for a couple of games, and that Seton Hall beat Maryland without him. I think it's close. Howard can still win this.
