Throwing ball to ref after made basket - STOP!!!

The NCAA needs to implement a rule to stop teams from grabbing the ball out of the basket and throwing it to the referee. It happens so goddam much now and I hate it. Slows the game down and prevents a team from getting the ball and going quickly.

Agree whole heartedly. I believe refs can call a delay of game. Why they don't, I have no idea. If you happen to catch the ball out of the bucket cause you were under it, set it on the floor at the base line immediately. Anything else, including tossing it to the ref, give a warning and then call a Technical. Don't have it count against 5 fouls, if you want. But give the other team two free throws and the ball at half court.

I swear Tom Izzo was just harping on the refs for exactly this. LSU player secured the ball after a made basket and held it for a heartbeat then threw it to the ref as he began to play full court defense. The act of taking the ball out of the hoop was clearly used to impede the offensive team from playing at pace.

Yeah, I saw that too. It really is a delay of game tactic to make sure the scoring team has time to set up on defense. When we had Mo Watson, there were numerous times after a made basket that he would get to the basket on offense before the other team could get back on defense!
