Three games tonight.

Wed Nov 29th 2017:
Penn at #4 Villanova, 7pm, FS1.
Rider at Providence, 7pm.
Chicago State at Marquette, 9pm, FS1.

We should go 3-0, but taking nothing for granted after the Eastern Illinois and Belmont squeakers. Rider is 5-1 and won at George Washington. I mean, crazy that I'm skittish about this game, but we're still a work in progress. Chicago State is 0-7, but 3 losses were to Purdue, Notre Dame and Northern Iowa. Rivalry game in Phila... when i was 10+ in 79, Penn made the Final Four, and earlier in the 70's Chuck Daly had them ranked Top-5 in the nation.

That is when Xavier's turnaround began. After that Penn run in 79, Xavier brought in Bob Staak, who was I believe was an assistant coach at the time at Penn. He was brought in to begin Xavier's resurgence.

And in ‘79 we all should know who else made the FF that year. Indiana St and Mich St

Magic and co crushed Tony Price and the Penn Quakers. I think it might have been the largest margin of victory in a FF game until Nova met OU in 2016.

The other FF team in 79 was of course DePaul. Lost a heartbreaker to Bird.

So tonight at the Dunk, the same thing happened like it did last Wednesday vs Belmont. Freakin Rider couldn't miss a shot, drilling threes from all over. At this point the pattern shows that it's our defense, with the biggest glaring mistake being giving up offensive rebounds. The loss of Holt has set us back. But these teams just shoot lights-out.

Anyway, we have a lot to work to do to improve. Playing at URI on Saturday is going to be tough.

I'm just glad we got the win. Also, seasons tickets holders got some sweet baseball hats tonight too.

:D

Would you believe your 3 point % allowed is #47 in the country, at 30.1%? Much better than the national average of 34.8%.

Rider was the first team all year long vs PC to shoot better than 33% from 3 point range. They were 9-19.

You are 100% correct on the defensive rebounds. Giving up 36% offensive rebounds, which is #313 in the country. Only Wake Forest and Nebraska from the F5+BE+AAC have a worse %.

You guys should do fine on Saturday- Rhode Island is awful at teams going to the line on them(#333 on FTA/FGA). Worse than any team in the F5+BE+AAC. And Providence is pretty good getting to the line (#57 in the country).

I didn't see PC game. did they play poorly? a win is a win but close call against a Rider team predicted to be at bottom of the MAAC
